Flushable Diaper Liners w/Septic?

I am new to this and am just about set up to CD the twins when they arrive.  I was wondering are flushable diaper liners okay to use with a septic tank?  If yes, do I need to use a specific brand?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Flushable Diaper Liners w/Septic?

  • Flushable liners are okay, they're not much thicker than toilet paper. I wouldn't stock up on them though as you may find them unnecessary. For me, it ended up being an extra step that I didn't feel like doing so now I usually skip it. I also don't like how they get wet and sit on DD's privates. I'd rather just dunk and swish when she poos.

  • The GroVia ones say they are, I believe, but I think the packaging also said something about "you are responsible for your own septic system." I'm too paranoid, so we don't flush them.  We do have 1 roll, that we use occasionally.  We typically use them when we have her sleeping in something that isn't stay-dry so there is a layer of something dryer against her skin.  I would guess we use 1 every month, and then we toss it in the morning.  I'd rather just spray the poop off than deal with a septic problem.

  • We just had our tank pumped yesterday and the tank guys said NO.  None of the flushable liners are ok.
  • I wouldn't use them personally. I don't remember which side my research actually fell on, but overall the less you flush the better.

Rinsing, washable liners, ones that go in the garbage... all better options in my opinion.

  • We don't take any chances with ours, either.

  • We use single-ply Scott toilet paper and don't even put Kleenex into our septic system. I would NEVER put "flushable" liners into a septic.
  • Thank you so much for your advice and experience. Your comments were a huge help for me to come to a decision.
