Baby shower of Boss's wife-Do I go??

Help me out ladies. I have a delemia here. My boss, who is not the most fantastic person around, is gearing up to be a daddy again and his wife, who I have seen all of three times, has invited me to her baby shower in a few weeks. I don't know her. I don't know any of her family or friends. I realllllly don't think I want to go. I would feel so uncomfortable and I know she is only inviting me, no one else, from where we work. So what do I do? I don't want my boss to feel insulted if I turn his wife down...Best way to say "no" politly? I am sure she has heard every excuse in her book--she has two older boys. Thanks!

    If you don't want to go you could just say you already have plans. Maybe send a little something since it is your bosses wife.

    I agree with PP, just get something small and thank them for the invitation. Instead of making up an excuse just say "I won't be able to make it, but I wanted to get you all something. " etc...

    So... your boss's wife is throwing herself a baby shower for their 3rd child.....???? That in itself would be reason enough not to go. You could say that you only attend 1st showers.....you only go to close friends or relative showers... you don't do baby showers... or as pp mentioned, you already have plans. Maybe it wasn't her idea to invite you, but your boss. Either way I would decline.

    I would go without question even if you don't know her much/don't like him....it looks good in your bosses eyes (hello shoo in towards promotion!)

    Don't and I repeat DO NOT tell her that you won't go because you only go to first showers. Totally business irresponsible. Just because it's not on work time, your boss is still watching!
