2nd Trimester

I think my brain is shrinking....

I read a scary statistic today. Apparently a pregnant woman's brain can shrink anywhere from 4% to 8% during these 9 months. Ummm will it go back to normal after I have the baby or is it just gone? Its already happening to me. The other day I forgot my phone number, true story. I was calling a client and said.. "You can call me back at....uhhhh ummmm ...errrrrrrr or I will call you later on in the week."  I couldn't remember my phone number to save my life! I mean really, how often do you call yourself? I never do! So very very sad. Its also sad that I went to work the other day with my shirt on inside out and did not even notice until after lunch. What gives?? Haha. Oh well, its sooo worth it! A very small price to pay for finally getting the baby I've always prayed to have!  (My first pregnancy was a miscarriage). I will go around the rest of my life with goo in my brain if I have to, all for this LO on the way!

  • Technically, pregnancy brain goes away, but it's immediately replaced by mommy brain. You will remember all your child's vital stats, vaccination records, how many outfits you have stashed away in the next size, the time and channel that Yo Gabba Gabba is on, etc. But god help you if you try to think of that perfect 4-syllable word in a work meeting when everyone is listening to you talk.

  • I tend to forget simple words for things like "Coffee table" or "Remote control"... you don't forget what they're for/what they do and can describe what they look like but to actually spit out the simple word titling what it is? Forget it. The best is when I went back to work serving after I had my son and tried to tell a customer what was in a sandwich but couldn't remember what "Lettuce" was called.

"Um... it's leafy... and green... and kinda crunchy sometimes. Goes in salad." *headscratch*

    Fun times.

Things to avoid during pregnancy: Eye contact with cats. Cats will suck the burgeoning life right out of you, using their infamous feline mind-powers. Avert your eyes, and move along.

FACT: 1 in 10 people are said to be a carrier of Listeria. Therefore you should avoid all shopping malls, grocery stores and busy street corners for the duration of your pregnancy. Or microwave anyone you contact until steaming, just to be safe.

    This is SO true!  lol!

I joke that this has to be our last kid because I will not have the brain capacity left to care for the kids if we have more.
