Hello Ladies...This is my 1st pregnancy and I am 5 weeks along. I've been reading up on what to do and what not to do and well I need to find out if I can continue to use my every day body lotion "Aveeno Firming Body Lotion." If not, what are some lotions you recommend and is safe to use on the body? Also do I need to worry about whats in my face lotions as well? I've been using Neutrogena Healthy Skin face lotion.
Thanks for your help my "Bump" friends
Re: Body Lotions...What to use and what not to
Keep using whatever lotions you're using. Those are both fine.
huh? what makes an unsafe lotion? i don't get it.
Thanks Girls! I think I read into things too much. I've been doing reserach online to make sure I am doing all the right things. I had read something about not using certain lotions etc...for example here is one thing I read up on....
" The only product that I know of that you are supposed to be careful with during pregnancy are any types of lotion containing Retinol A (it's a variant of Vitamin A), which in large doses either taken orally or absorbed through the skin has been deemed unsafe during pregnancy. I think (not sure) that Retinol A is used in things like anti-aging lotions"
I appreciate your feedback Ladies! Thank you!
Neutrogena makes a Retinol cream that's part of their healthy skin line. I'd probably stop using it if you are currently using it but wouldn't worry about any basic lotions. I used to use that product and loved it but have avoided it for this reason. More recently I used an rx Retinol treatment but I stopped when we started ttc. My doctor said it was off limits but I didn't ask about the over-the-counter version.
I think that non-medicated lotions should be fine. If you purchase new lotion, an unscented one is a good option in case you have bad m/s.
