Not ready to tell yet

I know tell when you want to, but I don't think I want to ever... I've told a few close friends who I know won't annoy me and be genuinely supportive, all arer pregnant or just had babies. I told my boss, so people would stop looking at me like it's not professional to be eating crackers all the time. DH says whatever I decide is fine.

My mom will end up being crazy and obsessive about the whole thing. Not to mention that she has a lot of medical problems and is always looking for something to be wrong with me. And then there's all the people asking how you're feeling, saying stupid stuff and touching you. When I got engaged, I was interupted constantly for a whole week at work. I know people are just happy for you, but it's a lot to take in.

So, I guess we're waiting a bit longer, maybe until Turkey day.

Re: Not ready to tell yet

  • You should wait as long as you want!  Hopefully the more it sinks in the more you will want to share. :)

  • We have only told our parents, and we told them after the first u/s at 8wks. We do not plan on telling anyone else until christmas/ny's time.  I am just so scared of having another miscarriage and having to untell people.

  • When I got my BFP, I couldn't wait to tell the world! But now that it's been nearly two weeks, I'm seriously seeing the virtues of keeping it to ourselves.  We've each told our closest friends but that's it. We're planning on telling the world around Thanksgiving as we'll be seeing the hb that week at our 2nd appt. For now, it's kind of fun knowing a little secret!

That being said, I agree w/PPs in that it is yours and your husband's choice on when to tell. Don't let other people make that decision for you. My DH & I have joked that we'd like to avoid telling his mom for the first couple years b/c she will drive us both so crazy (just how hard is it to find a sitter for the holidays, I wonder?? Wink )

  • I get where you are comming from.  :-)

Would it help to tell people in waves .... like a few people each day?  Then maybe it won't be so overwhelming??
