Aspartame

Any one familiar with this artifical sweetner? Anyones OB have opinions on it?  It is in the yogurt I usually eat (light yogurt).  I am thinking I need to quit eating light yogurt and start eating regular.

Re: Aspartame

  • Someone asked this Q yesterday or day before. I'm a splenda girl. But there's lots of negative info on it for people (not to mention pregnant women) I will do my best to steer clear of it anyway. Im not sure of the fetal effects. But its not worth it. Ya know?

  • the american pregnancy association states the following:

Aspartame: (Equal or NutraSweet) Aspartame is not effective in heat nor for long periods in liquid form. It is often found as an additive to soft drinks, gelatin, desserts, pudding mixes, breakfast cereals, beverages, chewing gum, dairy products, and other foods and drugs. According to the Food and Drug Administration(FDA), Aspartame is safe for use during pregnancy and lactation. It is recommended to limit consumption to a moderate level.

i am currently drinkng some aspartame right now!

i also eat raw eggs in my food occasionally and last week i had a glass of wine.  i'm liberal that way.  my OB is as well.  i trust her very much.

  • aspartame makes me kinda ill so I use Stevia.  It's supposed to be much more natural and I don't have any weird side effects with it.
