When are you working out? i go back to work next week and between getting everyone out the door, going to work on time in the morning and getting dinner ready, kids fed and showered... I have NO clue how i'm going to manage trying to get back into shape.
How do you do it? I have to be at work by 8 and will get myself ready before taking the kids to daycare. It seems impossible to get up early to do it.
Re: working moms & working out
Let me just start by saying that I haven't had my baby yet.... but this is what a couple of girlfriends do. One works out during her lunch break - kinda grosses me out because I get too sweaty and don't think I have time to shower and get back to the job in time but she does it ALL the time. Another works out after work but before picking up the kids. A few have joined gyms that have child care and they just bring the kids with them to the gym. One of the little boys LOVES going to the gym and even asks if they can go on the weekends because he likes the other kids that are there!
Good luck and I know you can do it! It will make you feel better and be a better mom and wife!
I'm crazy (but I was before the baby, so no big change) but I go to the gym at 5am. I'm usually up by 4:30 to pump, at the gym by 5, work out for an hour then am ready for work by 7. There's no way I could work out at lunch since an hour isn't enough time to get in a good work out and a shower. Working out after work has never worked for me since I'm always able to find an excuse not to go (I'm too tired, I have to make dinner, I have to work late...). I imagine that will only be amplified now that DS is here.
Truth be told, I have started work yet. I go back next week, but have been doing this schedule for a while to get DS, DH and I used to it before I really go back. So far it seems to be working.
My gym has infant childcare so I'm able to take her there and workout and shower. Depending on what time I'm working, it's either in the morning or evening. If I didn't have that, DH & I would have to rotate the gym time, which is what we did before she was old enough to go. I'm excited too for when she's old enough for a jogging stroller.
Agree with the 5 a.m.-er. That is the only time you have time and don't have other excuses. I run 3x a week - two week mornings and a weekend run. Would love to run more, but just don't have the time. A comprise for the next few years I guess.
