Had a great OB appt this morning (my first biweekly). But I was caught offguard with the news that they want to induce me at 38-39 weeks. Everything is great, and they want to "take her while she's good."
We're high-risk because we lost her twin at 16 weeks and had to have some "surgical intervention" to save this little girl - all is well though and our peri has done growth scans every 2 weeks since then with great results, as well as a great fetal echo and fetal anatomy scan. I think they just don't want to chance anything, and they said they don't want me going the full 40 weeks.
So, I'm glad we have a while to think this over (and to learn more about it - I know nothing of inductions) and we'll have plenty of questions at my next OB appt to kind of ease our minds about it.
But wow, my EDD was Jan 1st, so 39 weeks = Christmas Day and 38 weeks = Dec 18th (we won't have to actually pick the day until about a week beforehand, but I'm just getting a feel for it). We're going to have baby's first Christmas this year after all. Wild!! Although I'm a bit sad about not being surprised and having to choose her birthday...
Re: Wow - induction for me
Girl, you make me smile every time you call Annabelle a starlett
I know, isn't it crazy that babies are coming to this board soon?? I'm bringing up the tail end of the crew, so I can't imagine how excited the early birds like Schick's are!! And woohoo - I'm glad I stuck with this board instead of migrating to the Jan board when my due date got pushed back. I knew I was a Dec mommy all along!
Wow! That is big news. I'm glad they are being cautious. That's the reason I am being induced. My BP has been elevated the whole time and she doesn't want me going past 40. I have chosen to go in for induction at 39 weeks, 1 day. GL with your decisions. And it's kind of fun knowing their planned b-day- at least your relatives can plan with you! Haha. There's a bright side. : ))
p.s.- How's her adorable room coming along?
Yeah, I'm getting a little more comfortable with the idea the more I talk about it with people (I was never *against* it, I just didn't realize I was a candidate and so I was caught off guard). I'm so excited for your big day!!
The nursery is nearly finished! I've been holding off on posting pics because we have been waiting on the glider (the rest of the room has been done for about a month now). Well, the glider is being delivered on Monday afternoon, finally!! I'll definitely post pics here and ask Loves to put them on the website, too. The only thing I'll have left to do is hang some more wall decor - but that will involve baby photos and I obviously can't do that for a while!
I'm glad to hear you're taking the news well. Is there anything specific that you've read or looked at that made you feel more comfortable with the idea of induction?
My doctor said yesterday the chances of me being allowed to go to 40 weeks are "very small," but I honestly haven't quite wrapped my head around it. An induction was the one thing I said I didn't want to have happen, but of course, I trust my doctor, so I'm going to follow what he recommends.
