I'm not worried about schedules or anything like that, but what I want to know is how did your LO get the message across to you that they only needed 1 nap a day? Did the 2 naps slowly get closer together? Did one nap (morning or afternoon) nap gradually get shorter then disappear? I'm just curious how the transition came about in your house...
Re: HOW did your LO go to 1 nap a day?
As DD got older, she is able to stay awake longer between naps. Once she could be awake for 3-4 hrs between naps (i.e. since about 11 months) she usually, though not always, has 1 nap from 1-3:30 ish.
ETA: If she wakes earlier in the morning or her afternoon nap is short (1 hr), then she'll have a second short late afternoon nap.
I'm not sure, but I know DD's nap schedule is getting kinda flaky these days. That's why I'm asking. She's able to stay up a bit longer before she needs a nap, but some days it's hit-or-miss. Basically, she used to be a really predictable/great sleeper but these days I'm never sure when she'll need a nap because it can be her "old" schedule one day, then the next she'll stay awake 1/2 the day without one. I just figure neither one of us knows what she needs as far as napping goes these days, so we'll figure it out together.
He dropped his morning nap by just not being tired and fussy when he usually would be. I would try and put him down since that was the routine but he wouldn't have it...LOL.

she started refusing her afternoon nap.....i am slowly pushing her morning nap later, but she is still cranky by dinner time. i have been putting her to bed earlier--6:30pm and she sleeps until 6:30-7:30 am.
it is not a fun transition by any means....good luck!
LO is on one nap a day as of this week (and sporadically the week before). His morning nap started to be later and later, which pushed his afternoon nap later. Note: we refused to let him sleep past 6pm since he would not fall asleep for the night at 8pm.
His nap is from 12:30-2:30pm. He typically sleeps from 8pm - 6am overnight.
