Babies on the Brain

Past your due date and still pregnant....

are you walking everyday..... not walking around your house.... really walking at a park/gym  for a mile or more? Did you know labor will be faster/less stress on your body and you will go in to labor sooner if you are taking those walks?

So all you pregnant girls out there that are way over due.... step away from the nest and get your butts in gear and go walking!! :o)

  • I'm sure this works for every single pregnant person ever that has walked the earth.  Just like all of the other things that are suppose to induce labor!
  • Hey thanks, haven't heard that one before--maybe I'll try it.  Super Angry

  • Ugh. Really? So what about those who walked regularly before they were due and still went past their EDD? And for those who walked regularly and had very long, stressful labors? Maybe their bodies didnt get that memo...
  • OHMYGOD.... why didn't I think of that?!!!!  I could have made millions but you beat me to it!  You're genius!

  • I'm sorry, but just because I'm on the nest right now, doesn't mean that I haven't been out there walking my ass off for the last few weeks.  I am pretty sure that being 41 weeks pregnant and having taken Bradley courses that I am well versed in ways to get labor going.
  • I thought you were done with BOTB.  What happened to that?

  • Because that's what every 40 week pregnant woman feels like doing...
    2 girls and a dog
  • I thought you had to have sex with a spicy Mexican?
  • I hate to say this but this is the exact reason someone prob left a nasty comment on your blog. Implying that pregnant ladies over 40 weeks are not walking enough is not cool Indifferent . Most of us are doing everything we can making me feel guilty for not being able to do a 5 mile walk does not make me feel warm and gushy inside.

  • I am just saying this worked for me.... I pushed three time and she was here.... she was 8 pounds 4 ounces too. I walked everyday my whole pregnancy and gained 20 pounds my whole pregnancy. I also had no complications what so ever during my whole pregnancy. Walking really works and when you do this everyday the positive out way everything to make sure and have a healthy pregnancy and less stress on the baby during delivery. Just saying ladies..... no need to completely freak out!

  • I did 40 minutes on the elliptical machine everyday with DS and he was 9 days late.  There is no scientific evidence to back up that walking will induce labor. I would've been late whether I sat on my ass or not.

Now walking once labor has started as a way to help it along. That is known to help.

  • Oh and stretch marks are genetic.  Perhaps it wouldn't kill you to read up on true medical studies before dishing out your OWTs.

  • Not everyone is the same. I did yoga most of this pregnancy and walked as much as I could with work, school, two SSs, and a life walking millions of miles everyday is not an option for most. You are now implying we needed to do it the whole time..it is a little late for that way to make us feel like we fail.

I only gained 30lbs and I do not think that is bad at all. I am totally comfortable with what I gained and what kind of shape I am in.

You were also like 19 when you gave birth or something right? Your body bounces back a lot better when you are young.

I was just pointing out why someone would do what they did. You know me I never get involved with the stuff on here and you but when you come one and say stuff like this it really pisses people off.

  • She is know cursed to have a horrible 2nd pregnancy and gain 200 lbs and stretch marks everywhere!

  • Now you are saying it is the reason I got stretch marks hmm. Funny how my doctor said I got them because me mom did.
  • I know they are genetic...... and every woman in my family has stretch marks besides me..... THAT IS THE TRUTH! And out of all of them.... I am the only one that walked every single day of my pregnancy. Seriously walking is what makes the difference!!

Common Monkey. I think she's more knowledgable on the subject than your Dr. What are you thinking?

Maybe getting knocked up at age 18 made the difference. Ever think of that?

  • Yeah my mom didn't get a single stretch mark with any of her 4 pregnancies, and I got f*cking stretch marks from puberty!  How unfair is that.

What did you do get out your voo doo doll and make a curse on me because I am stating the facts that I know.... hmmm I don't think so you evil witch!! ;o)

Dear lord please let this woman see the light and make her see she should not talk with such witch craft.

  • Pushing 3 times and the baby comes out = your vagina is enormous.

    HTH. ?

  • I was pregnant at 22! Thank you very much..... and I do not think age is the difference.... some of the girls in my family were pregnant younger than me! TIA! Just saying stretch marks aren't genetic..... doctors have no idea.... if they were I would have a crap load of them.... it is walking and a healthy diet that keep them away!!

I usually stay out of all of the drama on here, but this is just pissing me off.  I am a nurse in a busy ER and spent 12 hours a day 3 days a week, walking my ass off.  And yes I do have stretch marks, but that has nothing to do with walking, I've had them my whole life....they're genetic.  And I've only gained about 30 lbs, which is not bad.  My m/w has never mentioned that my weight was an issue.

I'm happy that you had such a perfect and textbook pregnancy and delivery thanks to all of your walking, but every pregnancy is different and I don't need to hear you tell me how perfect you are and how wrong I am because I am 41 weeks pregnant and still haven't delivered.

And just a small FYI....I took Bradley birth classes and learned that for women who are allowed to go into labor on their own....the average gestation is 41 weeks and 1 day.  And Bradley includes walking everyday, along with other excercises to prepare your body for delivery.

  • I am not going to fight you over it if that is what you think that is what you think. You were also pretty young from what I remember so your skin is my elastic at a younger age. My friend that was 16 with her first didnt get any either and now at 25 she sure as hell did.

Anyways like I said I am comfortable with how fit I stayed and DH and I did do a lot of walking, bike riding, I did yoga, and played outside with the kids.

I really just touched down in here to make sure you understood why people do what they do. I read your posts about what people did and you seemed to not understand why people would do that and if you reread this whole thread you will see why. I think leaving blog comments is dumb I would never do such a thing because I am who I am but I can see why someone would do this.

It is pretty obvious this was posted after reading SPs flame worthy post.

  • Wow, and my mom and all my sisters have curly hair and yet I don't.  So it must have been the walking I did as a young kid, it couldn't possibly be genetics.

I rarely outright insult people on this board but you are an idiot.

  • I am not insulting any one....... I have never said anythong bad about any one of you.... i am just stating what all doctors say to do during pregnancy!!!

No where in this post have I said anything hurtful to any of you.... I stated what worked for me.... and wanted to give helpful advise to those of you pregnant.
