Mom's Groups?

I am fairly new to the area and live in the Plymouth area. I am looking for some sort of Mom's group that I can get involved in. I work part-time, but, am very interested in finding some sort of group that meets regularly so that I can meet other moms and hopefully make some friends too! (sounds lame, but, I need some mom-friends!) Any insight would be fantastic! thanks!

Re: Mom's Groups?

  • I'm not sure how far of a drive it would be, but there is one in Ann Arbor at St. Joes once a month.  It's free too!

  • You could check out the local MOPS groups. I went to a Mom-to-Mom sale on Saturday that was put on by the St. Edith/St. Kenneth MOPS group, and I chatted with several of the moms that belong. They meet twice a month, I believe, on Friday mornings. I think you can check them out on Facebook, or maybe Google MOPS groups?

  • I'm in the plymouth area as well.  Problem is, I need a group that meets on nights and weekends since I work full-time.

I'll keep an eye out for information around town and let you know.  I was also at the St Edith sale last weekend and several people have recommended their group.  I just can't meet in the mornings so I haven't tried it yet.

  • I found some mom's groups in your area on Meetup.com

  • Where are you planning to deliver? Beaumont has a really good parenting program for first time parents. It is free and initially meets every other week. The have a day time program or one that meets in the evenings. GL!

  • We joined our hospital parenting program (Beaumont) when we had our DD.  You may want to see if the hospital you will deliver at has a similar program.  I'm in a MOMs club in Oxford, not sure if there's one in Plymouth (they aren't listed on the National site, but neither is Oxford).  https://www.momsclub.org/links.html#Michigan

If you go to your library if they have a community bulletin board sometimes Moms groups will post there.  I found out about ours at a preschool open house I went to with my DD.  Some Churches have play groups as well.
