Babies: 0 - 3 Months

would you put tights on a boy?

Husband was like, "Um, hell no?"

I want to put tights on baby UNDER a footed onesie because we took him out today thinking he was all bundled up but when we got home his little legs were chilly (we had socks on his feet under the onesie).  So I thought tights would solve that problem.

Or if you have a better (manly) solution for DH let me know.  THANKS!

Re: would you put tights on a boy?

  • Baby Gap has jeans that are lined with a fleece type material.  I wouldn't put tights on my son.

  • I hate tights. I don't even put them on DD. how about baby legs?

  • So you would put the jeans over the foot onesie (he can't keep a sock on his foot to save his life unless he has them on UNDER the footed onesie)?
  • if it's under clothes for layering and warmth purposes, sure.  sneak them on before DH sees them  :o)

    IVF or adoption??
  • absolutely.   If I didn't have thermals or baby legs then definately tights under pants!

I don't care what it "looks" like, baby's warmth and care trumps estetics.

And Mikail Baryshnakov wore some nice looking tights and he's pretty manly, eh?

  • I wouldn't, but not because it would make him less masculine somehow, just because they wold be a GIANT PITA for diaper changes.  We have a few pairs of Baby Legs and I think they would be a great solution.  They have them in all kinds of prints, including some very "manly" types.

there's nothing wrong with putting tights on a boy....just like there's no problem with boys wearing pink....

if it keeps him warm, keep doing it! (i'd put tights on ds if it meant that he's staying warm)

  • As far as keeping socks on, the Baby Legs are long enough that you can tuck them under his heel.
  • Ditto the babylegs, bought some for DD but they are too long for her. They do have some "boy" looking ones too.
  • I put pants on DS (and socks) when its cooler since they're thicker than a sleeper. ?This morning, it was just below freezing when we took DS for a walk so we put him in a polar fleece one-piece over his pants and shirt which kept him warm and toasty.
  • I would only put tights on my son if he were playing Peter Pan in the school play or decided he wanted to dance ballet. Otherwise, no way! And I think DH would second that one. I would try lined pants with socks on too, or those babylegs things they sell at target. I think they have masculine ones and I think I've seen some pics of little boys wearing them on here.
  • FYI there are a few etsy.com sellers who have handmade babylegs for much cheaper than the name brand.

  • Also, the only socks that stay on DD are the carter's wiggleproof ones that fold over. I have tried many many socks on the girl. They sell them at target, walmart, and anywhere they sell carter's stuff.

Sorry, they are girls socks, but boys are the same but blue

  • No, but not because it isn't manly, I just think it would be really uncomfortable for them and girls alike (I hate wearing tights) along with a PITA to change his diaper.

  • Homemade babylegs, cut the foot part off of some sport socks or any knee socks for that matter.

I usually put pants over a fleece sleeper if we are going to be outside for awhile.

  • don't they make baby long underwear? ?i think i saw some at old navy.
