3rd Trimester

Baby moving around really violently??

He hasn't been very active lately, since he doesn't have the ROOM to be moving much... but today and yesterday, he's been ... i dunno, it feels like he's been THROWING himself around in my belly! Sometimes my whole side is sticking out from him!

What is going on here?? :( I thought babies are quietest before they're born, not pulling a full scale war on their mamas!

Re: Baby moving around really violently??

  • Not trying to scare you, but my doctor said to call him if I experience frantic movements. It could mean the baby's in distress. My baby does have moments when he/she seems to be going a little nuts in there though. It usually only lasts a few seconds and apparently that's normal. If you're suspicious, I would call.

  • DS wasn't. He was quiet for most of the pregnancy and then during the last 5 weeks went crazy! Thankfully though his personality has matched how he was inutero up until those last 5 weeks.

Oh boy. :( If he keeps this up anymore in the next hour, I'll give the office a call.

Hopefully this is more the case here! I'd be really sad if something is wrong at this point, after everything being so right all along.

  • Sometimes mine is pretty quiet, with only gentle little pokes or swirls. Other times it's like she's trying to break out through my belly button or ribcage.

Yesterday, for the first time, she thrashed around so hard it HURT-- normally it's just "ooh" or "ugh" type feelings, but man, I wonder if she'll have these moments from now until delivery!

  • I would take the advice of the pp and call your doctor if it seems too much or for too long. My doctor never mentioned anything like that to me and even when I told him that DS was moving more but it's always good to call if you're concerned.
  • I would guess it's cause he's running out of room and wants out.  Who knows.
  • My baby pushes down and kicks up at the same time.  I think he is trying to launch himself through the tunnel by pushing off on my ribs!  Yeah, it feels GREAT!
  • mine's been beating the hell out of me since 18 weeks, but since that's not normal for you, I'd call and see what they suggest.?
  • She's pretty quiet most of the day...just some poking. But then at night, she's starts moving around A LOT and really hard too! sometimes it really hurts, so much I have to stop in my tracks and gather myself. I went to the dr. on friday and everything is ok. You should call if it hurts that much, I thinl I will too tomorrow.
