Babies: 9 - 12 Months

How many hours a day does your 9MO sleep?

I know that some of you will hate me because I have read many posts with the opposite topic, but DS is 9 mos and really seems to sleep too much to me(16-17 hours/day). I know he is getting a tooth now, so I am sure that has something to do with it, but he always sleeps a lot.

He is sleeping 12-13 hours at night, then up for almost 2 hours, then back down for 1.5-2 hours, up for another 2 then back down for 2= total of about 16-17 hours a day.   He used to go to bed at 8, but I can barely keep him awake until 7:00 now- he starts getting cranky at 6.    I keep reading the norms are about 14 hours/day for this age.  What is your 9 MO doing?

  • That's about what DS does except he takes 4 one hour naps and sttn. I think we just have good sleepers!!

  • I am totally jealous. Alex sleeps between 9 & 9.5 hrs at night, and between 1-2.5 hrs during the day. Wanna switch kids for one day? Just one...please?
  • DS used to nap a lot more (short catnaps several times a day), but now that he has discovered moving, it's hard to get him to nap at all. I'm lucky to get 2 naps totaling 2-3 hours now. Some days he won't take his afternoon nap, which is a bummer. ?He sleeps about 11-12 hours at night, but still wakes up a few times to eat (working on that).

  • Our son sleeps exactly the same as your does. It is heaven.
  • She was sleeping 13-14 hours a day.  Recently, it's more like 11.  16 would be heaven.
  • we're the exact same! I love it:)
  • sleeps 11 hours at night and takes one 2 hour nap...

    so 13 hours total

  • If Joseph takes two 30m naps, that's a great day. But he goes to bed at 8 and gets up between 8-9 p.m., so I'm not complaining.
