I despise the bjorn. It's useless. LOVE the ergo though. I still use it with my 27 lb DS at 22 weeks pg.
I agree with this. I don't carry DS in it any longer but I did carry him easily well past the age of 2. I think you will be able to get so much more use out of the Ergo.

My cousin gave me an unused older moldel of the Ergobaby, but I still might put a Bjorn on the registry only b/c the Ergo, the baby can only be facing you, not outwards. Not that I can't go out and buy one after I discover what the baby prefers, but someone "might" want to buy it?
Ergo all the way (between those two) - the bjorn does not position LO correctly (baby should always be supported to the knees with the knees slightly higher than the bum - just like you would hold them. The bjorn dangles them by the crotch. The bjorn is NOT comfortable for the wearer as baby grows and the bjorn is unable to do back carries.
Definitely don't get a bjorn. If you must outward face, get the beco gemini.
LOVE the Ergo. My 13 month old falls asleep in it when I vacuum, so it must be comfortable! It's also really comfortable---I use it when shopping...etc instead of a stroller.
I have a Bjorn and I dont really like it. We used it only a handful of times with DS. It was uncomfortable for me and I could not really see over DS's head while I was doing household chores.
I have a baby k'tan which I like but I have heard great things about the Ergo so I will probably buy that also.
Kate pretty much lived in the Bjorn for the first 8 months of her life. It was the only carrier she would tolerate. Now that she's older and clearly too big for the Bjorn, she likes the Ergo, but only in the hip and back carries.
I'd get both. They don't take up much room...we hang ours on a hook in the closet.
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind."

I am curious, what is a rowhome? I have never heard that term before!

We have both. We have a bjorn active (DH's favorite, and we couldn't live without it for the newborn phase...so quick and easy to put on, and DS loved it!) We got an ergo when he outgrew the bjorn, and I like it, but it's a lot warmer than the bjorn. Honestly, get both. If you have money issues, then get a used bjorn (more popular so there are more of them) and buy an ergo.

Ergo. Bjorn will get too small and hurt your back once your baby is no longer an infant. I used my Ergo with my 2 year old the other day. LOVE LOVE LOVE my ergo.

DD loved the Bjorn. I did as well, and have NO concerns about the unsubstantiated claims that it's bad for baby.
Both DD and I hated the Ergo, but my neighbor swears by hers. It all comes down to personal preference - yours and baby.

I had a carrier similar to the Bjorn but I didn't like how it put so much pressure on DD's crotch. I now have an Ergo and LOVE it and DD loves it too!
This just looks way too uncomfortable for long periods of time:
