2nd Trimester

Pretty Pushers

I saw the Pretty Pushers labor gowns in American Baby magazine, so I looked them up, and they are really really cute! It says one size fits all and it appears that they would since all parts of it use a drawstring so that you can adjust the back, belly etc.

I was just wondering if anyone else had looked into these or knew of anyone that had bought one! I think that Im going to order one! Those hospital gowns make me miserable!

Re: Pretty Pushers

  • maybe for after L&D, but not for during. Too messy. I loved having fresh gowns the nurses brought as I needed them.

  • Seems like a waste of money to me!  Delivery is messy!  I had my own stuff for PP, but during delivery, I would NOT have wanted to ruin something of my own.

  • Well they are disposable.. so its not like something that you keep afterwards.. its just something thats supposed to make you feel a little prettier throughout I guess.

labor's not pretty....it's amazing, wonderful, and life-changing....but not pretty.

I guess that my point is that the LAST thing on my mind was feeling pretty!  I would just rather spend $30-50 on nice jammies to wear after for visitors.

Pretty goes out the window during labor and delivery!

Trust me, you REALLY won't care what you're wearing at that stage.

  • Way cute, even if completely impractical. I swear, I invent things in my head every day and always shoot myself down saying, "Eh, that's stupid, nobody will buy that." But the truth is people will buy anything.
  • Ehhh... definitely not my style.

I'm all for alternatives to the hospital gown, but this just strikes me as a tad over the top. Comfy button-down nightshirt? sure. Halter dress with plunging back and frills? not so much.

  • My doctor would laugh until she fell over if I showed up to deliver in this.

  • I have never given birth but I'm going to guess that most women who have will tell you they couldn't have cared less what they were wearing at the time.

  • The last thing I'll concerned about during labor is how pretty I look.  But in general it's not on the top of my list.  I also don't like spending money on things I'm will bleed on and most likely poop on lol.

NMS...I didn't see a price anywhere but I am sure it's more then I would want to spend on something disposable anyway.

ETA: looks like on amazon it's between 25-40 for them...that seems a bit steep.

  • Yea, I just think birth is waaay to messy to invest in something as trivial as this. But to each her own! I just know that once those big contractions come I wont care really about how I look but rather about getting my little girl out!

  • I also saw that ad. I laughed a lot. My outfit was the very last thing on my mind during L & D. But honestly, I can't justify spending so much on something I will wear once and then throw away.

I don't mind hospital gowns that much I guess, but personally I'd go naked if I had to. Think about it- nurses and doctors are constantly checking out your vag; if you get an epi, someone gets an awesome view of your butt crack; and if you nurse, those lactation consultants will make you whip out your equipment. Hope you aren't shy....

  • I think it's a cute idea. I have thought about wearing something other than a hospital gown- I just HATE them. But I don't think i'd buy this.  My intent is not to be pretty, but to be as comfortable as possible.  I'll worry about trying to be pretty once we're all cleaned up and people come to visit.

Do most hospitals let you wear something other than a hospital gown?

  • NMS, but I'm having a C-section, so it's not going to matter. If I was able to have a vaginal delivery, the labor nurses I have spoken to said I would probably spend a lot of time in and out of the shower during labor, so any kind of planned outfit of sorts might not have been a possibility.
