A baby question, but I'm asking here because I trust more experienced moms opinoins! I took DD1 into the dr. for the littlest things, now I guess I'm less likely to run into the doctor if its not necessary.
Anyway, DD2 (6 months) has had a very hoarse voice for about a week. She also has started sleeping a lot worse during this time. I was thinking she was just getting a cold, but the cold really never "arrived", just this hoarse voice. Other than that, she seems very happy.
Would you call the doctor? Wait it out? How long would you wait? TIA!!

I consider the pedi's office the most germy place I could possibly take my kids so I avoid it unless I think there's something they can actually do to help them.
DS #1 gets laryngitis all the time.
I do too and so does my Mom. Somehow that area is particularly weak when it comes to colds and immunity.
I would only take her in if you see a fever (and even then I'd wait a few days unless it's super high - they're unlikely to put her on antibiotics until they can be confident it's bacterial) or if she's got throat swelling that inhibits swallowing/eating. OR... if you suspect an ear infection for any reason.
But..... that's just me. Ultimately you've got to do what makes you most comfortable.
Perhaps a call to speak to a nurse could ease your mind?
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
I'd probably call the nurse line to see what they say, whether to bring her in or not.
Then, if they say to wait - I'd wait a few more days. If it's not gone in a few days, I'd make an appt.
Her throat might be physically uncomfortable, hence the poor sleep. They might have some suggestions on ways to alleviate it.
