  TJ Maxx, Stein Mart or Pier 1.

  Personally I go to Pier 1 first. They always seem to have the best prices and it can usually be exchanged with out any problems. Plus they have both basic pieces and funky ones. Did I mention their candles are heavenly???

  the only bummer with pier1 is you can't order online. ;(

  do you want to have something shipped directly?  I, too, like uncommon goods, redenvelope.com, smartbargains.com, overstock.com

  or you could send a bottle of wine/champagne.

  For housewarming, I usually do a consumer reports subscrption, a home depot/lowes gift card, or something from red envelope. The Harry and David suggestion is a good one, too.

  I love the glassware at Crate and Barrel.  They have great bowls, platters, glasses, etc at good prices.

  Is it their first place?  I don't think you can go wrong with a Home Depot gift card - there are so many things that first time home buyers need there.

  oh and you could say something on the card like

  "now that the dust has settled, we wanted to send you a little something to help with the projects you have underway"

  Thanks, everyone!  I always draw a total blank when I have to come up with random gifts.  I'd like to send them something directly, but I'm not opposed to ordering online & shipping either.  This gives me a good list.  Thanks again!

  I'm also a big fan of Crater and Barrel. Williams-Sonoma is lovely, but I always find it a little pricey for me.
