Success after IF

Freaking out a bit

Over the weekend Elijah's eyes have completely crossed again. His surgery was a week and a half ago, and while it didn't 100% fix the crossing, his eyes were much straighter. I am freaking out. I called the Eye Clinic and they want us to bring him in.

The nurse explained that sometimes the muscles are really stubborn and have a good memory. So I'm feeling like we put our boy through all of this for nothing and that his eyes will never be straight and that he will be the crossed-eyed kid who will forever be picked on:(

I know there is probably more the doctor can do, and that until we see them I should just take a deep breath, but OMG I can't help but think of the worst right now:( Oh, and Hazel is super sick with a terrible cold and all I can think is that she has RSV:( I need more sleep to be able to think straight.

Re: Freaking out a bit

  • I would be freaking out too.  Just remind yourself that of course there is more the doctor can do.  It will get fixed.  Sorry about Hazel :-(

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • I'm so sorry. I'm hoping that the doctor has a few more tools in his bag to resolve this. Please keep us posted!
  • I know this is totally out of left field and not what you were looking for, but one of the kids I went to high school with had crossed eyes and he was actually pretty popular. He was in track and had a really great personality and was very well-liked. I'm sure he was teased when we were younger, everyone was, but I don't think it was ever anything too bad and by the time high school came around, he definitely had a lot of friends. Just wanted to offer a little reassurance :) But I do hope the doctors can get it fixed!
