I bought a couple of baby gates today, but there is no way the cat can get over them. Our TRU had very few to choose from. Anyone have a baby gate or a trick on setting one up that a cat can get over/through?
We love the fact that the cats can't get past the gates. Saves us some headaches. Maybe you could try a pressure mounted gate that you can set up off the ground a bit? This will only work until your DD decides to climb on the gate. My DD thinks the gates are her jungle gym. We had to go to mounted gates into the studs to keep them from falling on her.
I think the climbing days are coming fast. She is already working on getting on the furniture. Unfortunately the cat needs past the gates to get to her litter and food. Otherwise I'd say to heck with it.
It was recalled, but they did come out with a slightly improved gate. Anyway, you can mount it, which means there's an opening below it.
In my limited searching, I think there are some gates that have pet doors on them. Maybe that's something worth looking into?
GL! Oh, and I am seriously hoping Ferber works for you this time around. It's amazing how much better life is when you get sleep...
Thanks! She was up 3 1/2 hr last night, so it's getting longer and longer, but there is less and less crying. I at least was able to cat nap between cries and she's still asleep which is amazing to me since she's usually up between 4:30 and 5:30.
We actually have this gate in two places in our house. It works really nicely. Even though this says it's available online only, we bought it in-store at Petsmart.

Thanks Katie! I was looking at that one but didn't know how well it worked, I couldn't figure out if DD could get through the little door or not. I'll have to check Petsmart today.

I'll be honest, Justin could get through it but he rarely tried. Tyler can't. Our cat is afraid of it and has since learned to jump over the gate but will go through the little door in a pinch.
Re: Pet-friendly baby gates?
This is my favorite gate:

I like the gate a lot, though.
