When people ask you this question what do you say? Do you answer in weeks or months? If you answer in months to make it easier, how do you come to a conclusion which month you are in? Unfortunately there is no set chart and this is always a never ending topic of discussion. I have two different charts listed below... which do you consider yourself in? I am going to go with the 1st chart.
(Both charts found via search engine).
1st chart
First trimester:
* Month 1 ? week 1 to 4
* Month 2 ? week 5 to 8
* Month 3 ? week 9 to 13
Second trimester:
* Month 4 ? week 14 t0 17
* Month 5 ? week 18 to 21
* Month 6 ? week 22 to 26
Third trimester:
* Month 7 ? week 27 to 30
* Month 8 ? week 31 to 35
* Month 9 ? week 36 to 40
2nd chart
1 month pregnant = 4 weeks 3 days
Re: How far along are you??
I'm almost 22 weeks and I tell people I'm almost 5 months along. The general public doesn't realize that you're actually pregnant for close to 10 months, so I count back from my EDD.
DH looked at this post and was like "No way you are 6 months pregnant!!"
This is the exact reason why I decided to post this thread and ask what chart you ladies like to refer to when putting your weeks into months. Since my H obviously isn't into keeping up with my weeks I decided to find a month chart for him. To my surprise according to the 1st chart I am further than we both thought. Of course I am going to go by the chart that says I am the furthest.
But that means you'll be telling people you're 9 months pregnant when you still have 4 weeks to go.
I usually say months unless they are a woman who has been preg, then I will tell her weeks bc I know she understands. Oh and I go by your first chart. That's what most dr's use. It's also what WTEWE uses. So now that I am 18 weeks I will begin to say I am 5 mos.
To answer, pp question regarding saying you are 9 mos when you still have 4 weeks left is correct. You are 9 mos your last month of pregnancy. Think of it like a birthday, you are the same age until your next birthday. Instead of years it's months.
From how I see it the two charts are saying the same thing. For example I am 18 weeks which means I am in my 5th month. I am also in my 29th year of life, but I won't be 29 until my birthday comes around and I have completed the 29th year.
For the short answer I would say that I am 4 months along.
