What plain solids did you do before combo foods?

I know you're supposed to try various foods alone before giving them as a combination in order to look for allergies. It seems like there aren't many single food choices at the store though. I think we have pears, bananas, squash, sweet potatos, peas, green beans, and a few others.

How many of them did you try before you started the combo foods (such as mixed veggies, mixed chicken dinners, etc.)?
Did anyone's pedi give them related recommendations?

  • We just started, but we started with Avacado. It is sooo easy. Just mash and feed the amount you want. You can then mix it with bananas, etc. It has gone pretty well so far. My sister did so also and says her daughter still loves it to this day (2 yrs old.) We are going to get a few under our belt then start combos in a few weeks.
