My OB called me back with some of my blood work results
While he said my progresterone is lower then he'd like he isn't going to do anything about it yet (?!?!?!?!).
Most other test were negative (fragile X, hemoglobin good, iron good etc)
BUT he did say that I had a falst + syphilis test. He said I DO NOT have syphilis but the test can also be a marker for another disease such as Lupus or Lymes. I am FREAKING out. Lupus is an awful disease! I am absolutely having a mini-anxiety attack right now.
Anyone else have this?
Re: results: false + syphilis test could be autoimmune disease
Positive antiphospholipid antibodies can also cause a false positive syphilis test. You should ask to be tested for antiphoslipid antibodies. There are quite a few of them. Some are listed in my siggy.
As my siggy suggests, I tested positive for all of the antiphospholipid antibodies for which I was tested. I do have an autoimmune disease, but it is not Lupus and I don't have Lymes. I also do not clinically have antiphospholipid syndrome (there is some really strict criteria that includes a history of blood clots, multiple early m/c and/or a late term m/c). That being said, if you test positive for antiphospholipid antibodies, you may need to be on heparin or Lovenox if you get PG.
Let me know if you have any questions about APAs. I hope you get some answers.

Me= 37 and DH = 41
Dx: DOR, Endo, APA+ (really high beta 2 glycoprotein antibody and high everything else tested), heterozygous MTHFR mutation, positive for lupus anticoagulant, high FSH, low AMH and both tubes blocked (per HSG on 3/8/11)
IVF #1 - long lupron (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 4 retrieved, 3 fertilized; ET 2 blasts and 1 frozen = BFN
IVF #2 - a version of antagonist with EPP (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 6 retrieved, 4 mature, 3 fertilized, 2 blasts and 1 frozen blast transferred on day 5 = BFN.
IVF #3 April was postponed to May, May was canceled. June/July was canceled. Had a cyst aspiration and then began IVF #3 in August. ER on 8/22; ET on 8/24 with AH. +HPT on 9/5. Beta #1 (11dpo) = 3; Beta #2 (15dpo) = 29; Beta #3 (17dpo) = 60; Beta #4 (19 dpo) = 118. Heartbeat at 6 weeks 6 days =132. Lil is here!
TTC#2: Trigger + TI = BFN; Clomid + Trigger + IUI = BFN.
IVF #4: BCP + MDLF + Lovenox = 7R, 1F = Transferred 1 6-cell embryo on day 3 = BFN
IVF #5: MDLF + Lovenox = 4R, 1F = Transferred 1 10-cell compacting embryo on day 3 = BFN
IVF #6: (New RE): Long Antagonist November 2014 (transferred two 8 cell grade 1 embryos and froze one blast) = BFN
FET#1: BFN
Did you have to see a specialist to get tested for all of the different APAs? Or did your primary do it?
My RE requested the testing before I started IVF. It is part of their standard RPL panel (I haven't had RPL, but this was done to prevent a loss if IVF worked). The blood work was done by Lab Corp.

Just so you know, lupus anticoagulant antibodies are a type of antiphospholipid antibodies. Testing positive for lupus anticoagulant antibodies does not mean you have lupus. While antiphospholipid antibodies are commonly associated with lupus and other autoimmune disease, they are present in 2% of the normal population.
Also, there are medications that can cause APAs to be produced. So, again if you are tested and end up being APA positive, don't freak out about it.
Do you have chronic joint pain/inflammation or any other symptoms of lupus? I have many of the symptoms of Lupus but do not have Lupus.

Your doctor is correct in that you can have a positive syphillis test, but not have it and an autoimmune disorder can be the culprit.
I hope that the rest of your tests turn out okay. If it is lupus, you'll need to see a rheumatologist, who deals with lupus, along with a lot of other autoimmune diseases. I've beeen tested for a ton of autoimmune diseases as they run rampant through my family. All but two women have some type of autoimmune disorder.
