Trouble TTC

My dog ate my wedding rings

So I went to put my rings on today and realized they were missing. I remember taking them off and putting them on my night stand last night before bed but they are MIA. My dog Maddie, the boxer, was up in my room this morning unsupervised so I'm almost 100% sure she ate them. She has tried to eat them before but I've caught her and she spits them out. I was mad but I just had to laugh about it. It's my own fault for letting her in my room without me there.

Now I'm on poop patrol. How will I wear them after I find them in her poop?!?! LOL

Has anyone else had this happen to? How long does it take to come out the other end?

Re: My dog ate my wedding rings

  • Surprise  Oh no!!  I hope you can find them without too much trouble!

I'd take them to a jeweler to be cleaned after finding them.  None of that store bought cleaner stuff for something like this.

No! No! Don't soak them in bleach! My jeweler said not to let bleach touch my rings (they are white gold). I would definitely supervise every crap this dog takes just to make sure you don't lose them!

  • I was kidding(sort of) about the bleach. There has to be some disinfectant I could use. Alcohol maybe?  I'll have to call the jewelry store and ask.

Amber- It is actually pretty funny! I can't be mad at her because she's so darn cute!!

  • Gag! I guess you can do multiple steps. Like boiling water and soap. Then vinegar and water. And after that taken them to the jewelers.
I agree that is kind of funny. That happened in the book Marley and me.Good luck finding them quickly!

  • My dog ate one of my diamond earrings in a very similar situation. It should be less than 24 hours. I have a jack russell/pug, a "jug", so he is a little dog. It may take a bit longer to pass for your little dog.

I took mine to my jeweler after cleaning it several times. They had seen it quite often! Good luck!

  • O.M.G.!!!!

As for cleaning before you bring it to the jeweler - I'd probably use an old toothbrush and some antibac. handsoap, then rinse well so there is no residue and it's usually pretty mild.  GL!!!

  • Soak them in vodka, and definitely take your dog to the vet if you don't get them back in a couple of days!  Good luck!
