If you live in the north...favorite kids shoes for winter?

DD is 2.5 and I'm not sure what shoes to get her for the winter.  We have sneakers, but I think with snow, slush, etc, something else might be needed.  Crocs make those fuzzy ones but I don't think they'd be great for playing at daycare, climbing, slides, etc.  What are your favorite winter shoes for everyday wear?

  • Kamik or LLBean boots. First they need to be warm, right? So stick with winter boots. She will be able to play in them. My son did last year at 18 months old, we were outside everyday.

  • Honestly, we usually buy 1 pair of tennis shoes and 1 nicer pair of shoes.  She did have a pair of snow boots last year, but mostly they were for cuteness.  I usually carry her from the car to the babysitter's, so I don't really worry about her walking much in the winter.  We will probably get another pair of snow boots again this year.

  • I'm in Northern Minnesota so boots are a must. They can't be cute furry fuzzy boots, they have to be sturdy, warm, and waterproof (at least on the bottom portion). My kids wear those when traveling around or obviously playing outside. For inside at daycare we have sneakers. I like Carters and Sketchers for sneakers, my oldest got some cool light up ones the other day.
  • We got DS timberlands from stride rite last year.  I am hoping to find some again this year.

  • DD just got a pair of Uggs, and she loves them! I've never felt her feet be so warm when I take her shoes off. They are just as soft as mine are, and seem really comfy cozy.
  • We have Kamik boots for DS this year.  It hasn't snowed yet (thank goodness) so I haven't tested them, but they look warm and sturdy and I know he'll be able to get around in them just fine.
