Too early to go out?

I've been invited to a bachelorette party that may last throughout the night and into early morning.  LO is almost 7 weeks old now and DH has given me the green light and said he's okay with me going out for that long.  I still feel a little guilty for leaving my LO.  I don't plan on getting trashed or anything crazy like that, but I do miss hanging out with my girlfriends.  I miss LO just thinking about it, but I could use a break.  I'm hoping I'm not the only mom with a newborn that's gone out for a long night with the girls??

  • I haven't been a way from LO for that long but he's still pretty new :)  The other day though I went shopping for a few hours with my sister and that was a nice little break without stressing.  I'm hoping that doing that a few times will help me transition for other outings and going back to work... :(

  • Get out and have a great time! My husband and I are going to a Halloween party next Friday and are having my parents watch the baby overnight. And my cousins birthday is next month and we always go out to the bars for a little fun. My baby will be 3 weeks old tomorrow - it is good for us to get out and get some baby free time. Have fun!

  • Don't feel bad.  I went out with my girlies when Joy was 5 weeks old.  My mom was absolutely THRILLED to be able to babysit all night.  I thought I would be a nervous wreck being away from her but I really enjoyed hanging out with my friends for the first time in several months.  Although when I got home that night I didn't let her go for nearly two days, lol.

however long the night, dawn will break.

  • I went out at 6 weeks with a girlfriend and we went to a comedy club then hit some local gay bars and we had a great time- came home late late late... and DH let me sleep until 11am it was amazing, but i definately was hurting when i came home and hurting in the morning from engorgement, but i pumped and dumped until i felt safe enough to feed my milk to my DS. but i stocked up that week just for that night lol.
  • Go out and have a great time! That is plenty old to take a couple hours for some fun!
  • Not at all!! Enjoy your night!! and youll have to find out eventually :) I had to leave LO for 14 hours! at only 5 weeks old eek! I was standing up in a wedding with a hair appt at 8am and wedding lasting until 1030! At first it was kinda hard but then it was nice and relaxing knowing she was ok and had enough bottles- I BF and pumped a stash. It was worth it because now I know I can leave her and not be a nervous wreck :)

  • I say DO IT ! You deserve it.  Baby may even enjoy a lil change :) You will be so refreshed and ready to dive back in that lil babe the next morning !
  • DH and I are going to a haunted house tomorrow night and leaving LO with DH's mom. We've went out once already since LO was born.

I think it's important to take time for yourself and/or DH every once in while. The first time we went out, I was welcoming the 3am cries because I'd missed her so much. :)

  • DH and I went to a wedding when DD was 3 1/2 weeks old. My parents watched her. I missed her but enjoyed the night out with my husband.
