I thought it was around 3 months, but I just looked for clues with Kylah. She started head control early and has been steadily getting better. She's in her Bumbo in my siggy, but I don't put her in it for a long length of time yet.
My DS does really well with his head but he has since about birth. He can hold it up for a while then it flops. I wouldn't put him in a Bumbo yet since he can't fully hold it up, and I think the recomendation is 4 months for the Bumbo anyways for their spines, as a PT I probablly wont put my LO in his until about 5 or 6 months
Depends on the kid. Both of mine were pretty young when they could hold their heads up (less than 2 months - my youngest has liked to be held up high near my should for a few wks so he can look around) but I didn't use a Bumbo...

Exactly. Even if they can hold their head up earlier than is average (4 mo) their backs are not ready for the Bumbo. But yes, the average for good head control is around 4 months.
The moment a child is born,
the mother is also born.
She never existed before.
The woman existed, but the mother, never.
A mother is something absolutely new.

I read that a child shouldn't be in the bumbo for extended periods of time anyway, no matter what the age or it could affect their spine and hips. For occasional use, it's supposed to be fine. Also, they start showing head control at 8 weeks and it should be mastered by 12 weeks. (I grabbed my development sheet my pedi gives us at every appt.)
I do have to warn you OP, if baby gets chunky quickly, you won't get a lot of use out of the seat, the leg holes don't allow for thick legs. Our baby is short and already has chunky thighs, I'm thinking it won't last her until she's a year old if she keeps it up!
