What will you set the temperature of your house to for the day and night when your baby arrives? Right now we set ours to 70 during the day and 68 at night but I think we'll probably have to up the temperature at night...not sure what it should be though.

Re: Temperature of House When Baby Arrives
we keep our house between 62-65. We're always hot
I didn't adjust it when DS was born and wont with DD.
Our pedi told us to dress him a layer warmer than us for the first two weeks after he's born. After that he'll be able to adjust his body temp to what we keep the house at.
70/68 degrees seems pretty cool to me though.
We keep our house at 75 degrees.
ETA: We live in Florida so that's a/c temp.
we will keep it at 65 during the day and turn it down to 63ish at night.
?
63 at night? In the dead of winter?
*shaking head
?
im sorry shake your head all you want. but our house stays warm. and both me and dh cant stand being warm. if it seams too chilly for the baby then we will turn it up. but its not like hes laying there with nothing on.?

There are people that keep their houses heated past 70 in the winter!!?? I can't even imagine the heating bill I'd have.
We usually keep the thermostat at 66 all winter (in MA). On REALLY cold days I'll put it up to 68. When the baby comes, we'll probably use it as an excuse to keep it to 68 for a while, but it will NOT be going above that. I don't need that kind of heating bill, and the baby will have plenty of warm fuzzy clothes to wear if she's chilly.
We've had our heat on once since we stopped using the a/c, and that was because we forgot to close the windows before we left one evening, and by the time we came back it was 60 in my house. We put the thermostat on 63 to take the chill out.
We kept our old house at 65 in winter.
Where we live now we have radiator heat that we can't control.
I can already tell the windows will be cracked for the next few months.
I think there is a BIG difference between what is cold to someone who lives in MN or PA (me) and someone who lives in FL. RIght now it's in the 50's here. I find it refreshing and don't wear a sweater or a jacket, but my australian DH is FREEZING.
Same as the difference beween what is hot. A nestie who got married in Pgh. but lives in Houston keeps her AC at 80 in summer. I'd DIE if we kept our AC at 80. We usually keep it at 70. When I'm desperate we lower it to 68 in summer.
Our house stays at 65. Heating is too expensive to keep it at 70 all winter.
Layering and keeping the baby clothed should be fine.
We also keep our house pretty cool during the winter. 66 during the evening when we're home 55 during the night and the day when we're not home. As long as you dress appropriately it's perfectly fine. We do plan on turning the temp. up when the baby is born at night and during the day (since I'll be home) but I wouldn't put it any higher than 65 at night. That's what fleece sleepers are for people!!
Besides, I agree with the pp who said it's not just about being cheap. It's about being comfortable and saving energy, not just for the sake of our wallets but the environment too.
