Went to my first appt. It went well ... was also my first time meeting a new OB. I like the OB a lot, he seems great. He wasn't going to try for the heartbeat or U/S today - a tad early. But I told him it would make me feel a lot better, that I did not have any reason to think something was wrong, but I was nervous.
He said that if, when feeling my uterus, he thought it would be a good idea, he would try for a heartbeat or U/S. When feeling my ute, he said it felt right on track and he would try an U/S. I was SO happy.
Nervous still, but happy.
He found the baby immediately, heartbeat was easy to find. Beating around 120, which he said was good for where I am. He said the next appt the HB should be faster, but 120 was totally fine. Baby is measuring exactly on track. WHEW. I even got my first picture! ![]()
Only "bad news" (and this is not really BAD) ... Because of my age, 37, he is referring me to a high risk OB for the NT testing. It is ONLY for the testing, not as a permanent change. So my next appt I will actually have TWO appts, and see TWO doctors - him and the high risk doctor. High risk doctor will do all the testing and bloodwork. My reg OB will do all my normal care. Even though I don't have an expectation that there will be problems, it still makes me nervous.
SOOOO, November 15th I will get to see my baby in detail - I think the high risk doctor will do a higher quality U/S (at least that is my understanding, I may have misunderstood). Only 4 weeks away!
Re: Got to see the blob today! :)
Glad there's another 37yr old here
Congrats on your good u/s.
Going for my NT scan Thursday, and getting nervous/looking forward to it.
Perinatologists can be very nice OBs! Not necessarily scary people. My OB is a Peri and he's the sweetest.
