I am EBFing and totally in the midst of the 4 mo. wakeful period. Last night, he woke up at 9, 12, 3 and 7!!! Prior to, he was going down at 7 and sleeping until 2:30, would eat and then back to sleep until 7 and a few times, slept through the night. I miss those days. I'm not sure when to feed him anymore... Tell me when your 4 mo old is going down for the night and whether or not you are feeding them during the night. TIA
Re: Your 4 mo's sleeping schedule
My son generally goes down at 7 and on a good night wakes at 10, 1, 3 and 5. I feed him every time or he won't go back to sleep.
On a bad night he's up every 30 minutes.
Wow, I didn't realize how little my dude was sleeping until I started reading all these posts. He's usually down around 8, and up to eat at 12 and 4. After 4, he's usually up every hour until he's up for good around 7. I think last night might have been the start of our 4 month wakeful. He was asleep at 8, then up at least 3 times between then and 1a. Then up at 3 and 5, and up for good at 6:30.
I feel lucky! Mine goes down at 9:30-ish, then wakes up somewhere around 5am. He takes his bottles and falls right back to sleep, then gets up around 8:30am.
During the day he usually takes 2-3 short cat naps a day (20-30 minutes or so) and one long nap for 2-3 hours.

We are dealing with the same thing. DD used to go to bed around 6:30 and sleep until at least 11:30 before waking to nurse. Sometimes she'd sleep until 1:30 or 2:30, so she'd have a 5-8 hour stretch at the beginning of the night. After that she'd be up every 2-3 hours to nurse. So she'd nurse 1-3 times a night.
Now she is up no less than 3 times a night and her longest stretch is usually 3-4 hours. Last night she went to bed at 7 and was up at 9, 11, 1, 3, 4, and up for the day at 5:30. And she only naps for 30-45 minutes at a time, three times a day. I am TIRED!
So glad I'm not the only one going through this, but it's been going on since he was about 2.5 mos old. My theory is that the 3 mo growth spurt and 4 mo wakeful period just all ran together for us.
We put him down at 10, and it's not unusual for him to get up and fuss every hour or two after that. If it hasn't been at least 3 hours, I don't feed him.
Last night he fell asleep eating at 10, so after he woke up at 11 and midnight I gave him just a little more to eat at midnight in case he fell asleep before getting full. That lasted him until 3 then he woke again. I nursed him and he slept until almost 8.
