We have some really generous grandparents who like to send clothes for the girls - so I hardly ever have to shop for clothes for them. (And I actually really hate clothes shopping - for them, for me - just in general).
However, both girls need socks and tights, and DD #1 needs some new panties. I was hoping to go on-line and just order these things, but it doesn't seem like stores have much in the way of panties and socks - at least not on their websites. I've checked the websites of JC Penney, Carters, Childrens Place. It's funny, they all have their own idea of whether or not my DD #1 is a "girl" or "toddler." She wears everything pretty much 5T. I wonder if that's why I'm having trouble - there doesn't seem to be a whole lot available in her size, as she seems to be on the cusp of "toddler" and "girl" sizes.
Re: Good place for toddler/girl underwear/socks/tights?
I have the same problem....DD is between 4T & 5T depending on brand. Tights I always have an issue finding...but for the most part i get socks and underwear at Target. I like the skid things on the bottom of their socks.
I also sometimes get underwear/socks/tights at Gymboree and Childrens Place when they have sales.
ETA: Children's place does have tights /socks online on sale now...
This reminds me that it is now fashionable to wear leggings under dresses as well. Not my favorite look, but we do it since leggings are more comfortable and she has so many pairs of them. Not to mention, some color tights are just plain hard to find and leggings come in every color of the rainbow.
I'm looking for leggings too and having trouble with that! I find that most of them come WITH a dress - I don't need the dress, I just need the leggings - where can I get leggings by themselves?
My DD #1 loves tights mainly because she loves dresses. And I think they make them a lot more comfortable these days - I totally remember hating tights as a kid except when I wore them for dance class.
We just bought DD some socks, tights, and leggings at Target.
For socks, we got her a 6 pack of Hanes, plus a few cute pairs from the dollar section. We got 3 pairs of really soft footless tights (weird, huh?) on clearance for $.50 each. Woo!
They also have some nice solid color pants/leggings and basic long sleeve shirts for $4 each.
If she's in underwear instead of a diaper, wouldn't she be in girl's sizes, at least in brands like Carter's where there is overlap in the heights/weights for T sizes and girl sizes? (I thought that T sizes allowed extra room for diapers.)
I have no idea - like I said, I rarely (thankfully) have to do much shopping for clothes at all. Though when the grandparents send stuff to me they ask me for the size and I say 5T and that's what they send (and one set of grandparents sends nothing but Carters). It seems like every brand has slightly different sizing as I'm looking on these websites. I had no idea that Carter's had overlapping sizing. How confusing! Because yes, she's been out of diapers for over a year. I had no idea that Carters allows room for diapers.
And this is pretty much why I hate clothes shopping.
