Does anyone have the Sniglar or any other Ikea crib and mattress? I'm wondering about firmness of mattress since I know the firmer the better and also about whether you noticed a gap btwn the mattress and the slats? I was reading about this gap online, pretty concerning.
Re: Ikea cribs and mattresses...
We just assembled the Leksvik crib. We like it, it assembled sturdy. I took a feel of the IKEA mattresses and to be honest, I didn't like them. They felt kinda flimsy and lumpyish and kinda thin for a mattress. I'd get something better elsewhere that's a bit more rigid.
You can find mattresses that fit the crib at Babies r' Us, but take heed of the crib measurements carefully and find one that fits exact and use a return policy if necessary. There will be several that fit, but a lot that won't work. You can go online to get the measurements so you have a list of several that fit flush with the crib.

On second thought...I just looked at the dimensions of the Ikea mattresses and they are 27.5 x 52. The mattress we are getting is 27.75 x 52. Any opinions on if that extra 0.25 inches will actually cram into the space?

we have an ikea crib (HERMELIN) and mattrass (not sure, VYSSA I think). they fit perfectly.
i wasnt sure about the matrass at first, cos i would?ve liked it firmer and thicker, but at first the baby wont weigh much at all anyway and it accomodates to the warmer climate we have here.
we found a store selling the matrasses i wanted in our price range a week after we bought the IKEA mattrass, but didnt get it in the end.
at least the IKEA one will defo ventilate right through and the base is sturdy enough (also have good faith IKEA wouldnt sell crap, as they have to confirm to nordic standards here, which are very high and I dont know about the other store?s reputation concerning their baby-line)
