Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Possible sleep sucess

We took J to her 1 year appointment on Thursday and told her pedi that she still doesn't sleep through the night.  He told us that she is growing very well and she definitely doesn't need milk in the middle of the night. He told us we could let her cry, but that if we didn't feel comfortable doing it, I can give her a bottle, it wont hurt.

On Thursday night I wanted to try it. So when she woke up around 11:30 I turned off the monitor, and set my alarm for 20 minutes. When it went off I turned on the monitor and she was asleep! I did that again for her 3:30 wake up and she fell back asleep on her own again!

Last night I planned on doing the same thing and she slept through the night!!  I am not going to kid myself and think she will sleep through the night from now on. just wanted to tell you all incase you have a toddler still not sleeping through the night.

  • As soon as I stopped bf'ing ds in the middle of the night and sending dh in with a bottle of milk (at one year) ds stopped waking up...(it took like a week).  I look back and think...how much earlier could he have done that?  (but I am too much of a softie...I couldn't do it until he was one).
