Any tips for getting LO to nap in crib?

My LO sleeps wonderfully at night in his crib, however, I can't get him to nap in it during the day.  Anyone else have this problem and how did you solve it?

Re: Any tips for getting LO to nap in crib?

  • In the beginning it was difficult. When you anticipate he is getting tired and ready for a nap I would put him in the crib. Each nap time just put him in and over time I think he will sleep there. My baby used to sleep only in the swing until we started moving her to her crib each time she was ready for her nap. It worked! Good luck!

  • Mine never naps in his crib.  I work during the day and my child goes to a sitter.  He sleeps wherever when he's tired.  He usually sleeps in his PnP when he's with me and with the sitter, he may sleep in a crib or even his car seat, depending on what is going on.  He naps consistently and wakes up refreshed.  He sleeps in his crib at night only.  I don't see the point in forcing the crib.

  • DD would only nap on our bed while we laid next to her (not good), but we would lay with her on our bed until she was very sleepy and then moving her into her crib. Eventually she became comfortable in the crib and now sleeps so much better when she is in it.
  • Our transition wasn't hard.  She began to get too wiggly for the bouncer.
