Hip pain

over the  last  few  weeks ive been  getting the  worst pain in my  hips and lower back.  once it starts up  it doesnt  go even after taking painkillers. Feels like someone stabbing deep into the  joints. some days i find it soo painful  that i try not to  walk unless necessary.  this is now  resulting in a lot of the  housework  not actually  getting done.

Any suggestions  to ease it?

Ive tried all of the  normal stuff

Re: Hip pain

  • Sounds like sciatica, have you tried a chiropractor?  What about pre-natal yoga?  Both of these things are a WONDERFUL help and will ease the pain without indulging in pain meds.

  • my  doc seems  not to   want to   send  me  as asked  if that  would  help and  ive never  really been  much  for  the whole meditation thing in yoga.
  • If you're not into the meditation part (which by the way should HELP you with labor) then try it out for the excersize and helping you learn techniques to ease your body through this process.  I wouldn't discount it before you try it.  As far as the chiropractor goes, there are plenty that see pregnant women and even specialize in it.  It truly has been a life saver for me!  When I had that specific pain that you're talking about, I was told to do this move, and it really helped....  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3KEL1DNNY0
  • P.S.

I really hope you feel better, I know it's NO fun!!

  • thanks. Ive been  up since 6am  after  only getting 4 hours sleep  and feeling like poop
  • I tried Tylenol PM, it did nothing. I asked the doctor about it and he apologized profusely and told me the only thing that will make it go away is having this LO.
  • I feel your pain!  I have had a lot of hip and low back pain too and I started going to a chiropractor and it has helped.  Now, I have more of an achy, sore muscle pain, instead of sharp, shooting pains.  I also do yoga and that does help too.

Basically, any type of stretching and massage helps also.  Try using a tennis ball to massage the tender points.

  • ive been getting these stabbing sort of pains in my lower back since 13 wks and its been on and off since then.  i asked a nurse at my drs if it was sciatica and she said no because sciatica usually happens from an injury.  i did some research on the net and found my symptoms are more likely due to pelvic girdle pain.

anyway, this last wk these stabbing pains have gotten soooooo bad that there are times i cant walk or sit down.  one time i stood up and couldnt move or put any pressure on my right leg.  dh forced me to take a tylenol and it helped and i was able to moev again but still in a bit of pain.  for the past 3 nights ive only been getting about3 or 4 hrs of sleep and not more than a half hr at a time (because my hips get so sore i have to rotate sides and the stabbing pain is so painful, it takes me forever to roll over).  i called my dr and she said to try yoga or pilates and some women benefit from massage.  2 of my coworkers have been to the chiropractor when pregnant and they say it helped a bit.  im not comfortable with someone cracking my back so my dr said it was ok to try a physiotherapist.  i have an appt this afternoon so i pray they help me!!  oh yea, you can also try a hot water pad on your back.  sorry this is so long but i feel your pain and dont want anyone to suffer like this!

  • thanks to  you all  for  your suggestions.

When i went  for   my last doc appointment he gave  me a few stretches  to do  and said i  can up the dosage of  paracitamol if need be. so far  no change but  hope it starts to do something soon.
