I finally made some decisions on OB's that I'd like to meet. I was prepared to pay a few copays, if necessary, to find one that's a good fit. I decided to contact 3-4 of the ones that were rec'd here and sounded good to me (I also found each one's bio) and just made a bunch of phone calls.
For 2 of them, their MA's were upfront in saying they know the Dr's would not consider a c/s if not absolutely necessary, even with my family's history of babies in distress and emergency c/s (plus my personal preferences). Exactly what I thought I'd find, sadly. :-(
Another one is booked for the month of my due date, so not taking new patients due that month.
I happened to find the bio for an OB that was just briefly mentioned here. I liked the look of him and how he described his philosophy. So, I'm going to see him in 2 weeks! I sure hope I like him b/c my options are pretty few now. The front desk person said she is often asked questions and listened to my concerns, etc. She said that she feels he'd be open to listening to me and considering my preferences, etc. Fingers crossed that he's a keeper and I can be done with this search!
Re: OB-hunting is hard work!
maybe you'll luck out and your baby will be breech and no one will give you any grief about a c-section! that's what Ben did for me.
I hope you find someone you like!
Hope so! :-) The hard thing is it seems some Drs wouldn't even be open to talking to me about my preferences and concerns. They have their own agendas. This is what I expected, to be honest, but I was hoping I'd be wrong. I have a major beef with this b/c if I wanted a drug-free vaginal birth I'd get tons of support and OB's open to it.

I am interested to know who your going to meet?
Message me, if you don't want it out here...
Thanks so much, everyone! This is why I was kinda whining about not even getting a shot at my preferred birth experience. I hope I like this guy I'm seeing.
It'll be my 4th u/s in 4 weeks. Haha! At least we'll have lots of pics of the munchkin to share, when we tell family!

If you are still looking for someone who will deliver at Providence I highly recommend Dr.Laurent Nicolov - he was fantastic!!!
