Cry it out
Yep. Even CIO advocates don't recommend it until at least 4 months.
This.
That, and if it feels like abuse to you, then don't do it. Your parenting style doesn't have to reflect another woman's parenting style. It's different for everyone, and that is the beauty of opinions about the matter.
Also, how long are you letting him CIO? It's supposed to be VERY SMALL amounts of time.
This.
OP, try what pp suggested- swaddling, pacifier, etc.
Right now, my DD only naps in her bouncy seat. However, she does sleep swaddled in her crib at night. I need to start getting her to sleep in her crib for naps but I figure I'll wait til she is four months old.
I felt like that with Emerson (CIO) but, this time around someone is always crying it seems and they're all just fine at the end of the day.
