2nd Trimester

What does the second trimester feel like?

I am still sick...so I'm just wondering how everyone else is feeling and what symptoms you have or don't have.

Re: What does the second trimester feel like?

  • My m/s subsided at 15 weeks but my pelvis feels like it could burst open and spill baby everywhere like that scene from Aliens.

  • I'm at the place in 2nd tri where I actually feel really good. I have a lot more energy, and I'm not feeling sick any more. But I hear it's pretty much different for everyone. Hope you feel better soon!

I've had dreams about that...bursting open at the belly button, it feels so stretched and painful some days.

Headaches, fatigue, my m/s stopped at 15 weeks too I think but I have had some vomiting here and there...oh, and dizziness and fainting too but that's just b/c my baby hates me.

  • It's been worse than the first.  I still have m/s and now my back is so bad I can't sit or stand for too long.  I am more tired than ever.  It may be because I am having twins though that I feel very 3d trimester like.

  • Like the first trimester, but fatter. I'm still yaking, but now I'm fat too SurpriseWink

  • The 2nd trimester has felt great for me, I have a lot of energy and have been feeling really positive about everything for the most part. I have had some pregnancy complications in each trimester so I just feel fortunate to have made it this far. I am almost in the 3rd tri and am starting to feel rather tired again and am def. not moving as quickly so if you are lucky enough to be feeling good, enjoy it while you can!
  •  I still have M/S so it's pretty much the same for me as 1st tri.My LO kicks a whole lot though,so that's a huge difference. And my back hurts more,I could go on and on.....

But for the most part,it's alot better than 1st tri,and I am almost in 3rd tri.Just hang in there maybe your M/S will subside!

  • I still have m/s but just in the morning - my appetite has come back for the rest of the day. I'm having some mild sciatic pain and starting to waddle a bit. I have occasional carpal tunnel symptoms in my hands and crotch aches. But I can still roll myself over in bed, work out, and bend over to tie my shoes. I don't feel like I need a nap every day anymore (though I still do some days). I'm well into maternity clothes now (but I'm haivng twins).

  • Feels like shiit, if I'm being honest. I'm nauseous at this very moment and will barf if I don't eat every couple hours. It's better than it was, but...

I also have heartburn like hell and major, constant aches in my legs, hips and pelvis. The headaches got terrible at around 15 weeks, I constantly feel like something died in my mouth, and my gums are sore and bleed when I brush. I also never got relief from the peeing problem, it only got worse and I wake up 2-3 times per night.

I know you're looking for positivity, but it's hard for me to supply any when I've been feeling like poo since 5 weeks. I keep waiting for those 'golden months' I hear of. Not in my world.

  • For me it depends on the day. Most days I feel fine, but there are days when I feel sick and can't stay awake.

I would like to hear positive things, but I appreciate the honesty. B/c everyone tells me I'll feel great in a few weeks. And I don't believe them. I hate when people sugarcoat things. Maybe they just forget.

  • My m/s is getting way worse. Which is lovely.

Other than that, I'm just really tired and lacking energy. And a bit crampy, which is causing the usual panic attacks. But I'm prone to those these days.

  • I suppose I have had it pretty easy all along, but the only thing that kicked in and hard in 2nd Tri is Round Ligament Pain (RLP). As a brilliant poster once said (I wish I can remember who she was), it feels like a giant Hi-Ya to the Hoo-Ha. And it only seems to be getting worse. But, even so, I really can't complain.

  • Much better that the nausea subsided!  Still very tired and lots of headaches, but I'll take that over m/s.  I did sleep better first tri.  I toss and turn a lot now feeling achy and having to pee.  Best thing is getting to feel baby move now.  Just amazing!

    Hyfagal,

This actually made me laugh out loud, your too funny

  • I personally found the whole "second trimester glow and energy"  thing a myth that never happened! I am 22 weeks and still sick, have no energy, and then you add a whole bunch more symptoms that suck.

So the 2nd trimester has been better for me only in that there are some exciting things that happen which make the pregnancy feel more real. You get to find out the sex, the baby starts to move, you start to show, and your boobies actually leak milk! It's freaking awesome.

I have gotten some more discomfort the further along I get and the bigger my tummy gets. I feel heavy and my legs and feet get sore. I get horrid heartburn from every single thing I eat. And my wrists have started to go numb. But it is great overall.

I'm glad you don't hate me for being a debbie downer. :)

And here is something positive - even though I'm having it rough, there are still good days. And everyone is different.

  • In all honesty, this pregnancy had been a total breeze for me. I felt really tired in the first tri, but that's it. Hell, I don't even REMEMBER anything that really went on. The last few weeks (starting around 25 weeks) have been bad. The baby is always on my bladder, I waddle like a house on two legs, my hands go numb, my hips hurt when I wake up, my feet and hands are always swollen...It's just that I'm getting bigger. We're all going to get bigger, so it's not like these things might not happen to you. They will.

So, no, the 2nd tri isn't better because, as you get bigger, you're going to start hating life. Just like me.

this is me exactly! up until 12 weeks I would just have nausea on and off all day but 2nd tri comes around and BAM! yakking every morning... that and my mouth tastes horrible and my gums are super sensitive.

I hope for your sake and all the rest of us still sick that this clears up soon.  If not, 6 months isn't that long is it?! lol

  • The nausea went away at 15 weeks. the fatigue at 16 or so. Now I can work all day if I need to, but still get more tired/have less mental energy than before the pregnancy. I just take a lot of breaks, but I definitely feel more normal (yay!). The belly is bigger and harder, and makes me feel better because I still *feel* pregnant even though I'm not nauseous. I do have some occasional vomiting and still have smell sensitivities, but it's not like all-day awefulness.
  • My nausea is mostly gone, food aversions mostly gone aside from veggies and occasional other random things, and I'm feeling pretty good overall.  I am still tired but it's manageable.  I am starting to pee more often, still constipated, and am getting some RLP's.  Boobs are getting obscene.

However, if not for the monster heartburn that I get after most meals, I would honestly be pretty comfortable.
