DD was diagnosed with AR at 4mos, she is on meds but it doesn't seem to do much, and we have increased her meds from once a day to 3 times a day i am not a fan of having a baby on meds at all but did what had to to get her to eat except that doesn't seem to be helping much either. She loves solids and i make her food so i sneak in formula and cereal in everything but she still needs her bottle doc wants her to have 28oz a day, we struggle getting 20 a day, not sure what to do anymore. I called the pedi and asked if we should switch formula or try soy, and she said no. I made an appt with another pedi to get a 2nd opinion on Thurs, feel like there is something wrong when she clearly wants the bottle when she sees it and then after 2-3 oz starts to cry and gives up and we have to take an hour to get about 5oz in her.
What have you guys found to work or was AR not the only thing going on??
I just hate to see baby struggle so much!
TIA
Re: A/R moms help!
Are you feeding smaller amounts more often? My LO physically cannot eat more than 3 oz at a time. Also, 20 oz total isn't that bad. My DD hasn't eaten over 18 oz in months. The main thing is that your child is gaining weight appropriate for them. That means, as long as your DD is following her own growth curve, the actual amount of formula shouldn't be that important. I'm surprised your ped is stressing a certain amount since each child eats differently. Along with going to a ped GI, I would just suggest doing the reflux lifestyle adjustments if you aren't already doing them. (Upright for 30 minutes after meals, propping head of the crib/changing table, etc.)
Good luck!
