Drew rarely even TRIED to roll. And then one day he just knew what he was doing, and wouldn't stop.
He's only just now started sitting, but he's not too good. He gets really excited, waves his arms around, and promptly loses his balance. Its kind of hilarious.?
My LO is a speed demon with her army crawling, but is just now finally getting the hang of sitting up at almost 7 months. She still falls a lot, though.
My first child, on the other hand, sat up at 6 months but was S-L-O-W with rolling and crawling. She didn't army crawl till 8 months. Crawled correctly at 9. And didn't roll effectively in any fashion until like 7-8 months.
Enjoy the lack of mobility. It's fun, but also harder (and scarier cause of choking hazards) once they move around.
DS just tripod sat today for about 20 seconds for the first time ever. He is pretty good at rolling though. A good friend of mine has a son who didn't start rolling until around 8 months. He just turned 9 months and is just starting to crawl. Her son just didn't want to roll. Her pedi told her that some babies just don't roll very much and to not worry about it. Try not to stress.
It wasn't until between 6-7 months that DD finally got the hang of sitting by herself without toppling over every couple minutes. About the same time she mastered rolling from back to belly (she learned belly to back at about 4-5 months). Especially with the rolling, she just seemed to finally figure it out one day and when I would get excited she would just look at me like "what's the big deal, mama?". Now she can literally roll herself from one end of the room to the other. No crawling yet, though.
Sophia only rolls from belly to back. She does sit unassisted, but that just started happening consistently a couple days ago. She went from toppling right over to getting it quickly. She didn't even tripod really. She does not roll from her back to her stomach. She gets to her side and quits.

lol. I know what you are saying. My first never ever ever put anything in his mouth. This one is a WHOLE different story. EVERYTHING goes in his mouth. We are going to have to be extremely careful about picking stuff up now (especially little pieces of toys). UGH!
Re: 6 month old, not rolling or sitting unassisted. Anyone else?
