So I got the Sleepy wrap (because I heard they have better fabric than a Moby) and so far I'm unenthused. The pockets seem really shallow (compared to the Moby) so I can't do a proper newborn hold -- it just doesn't seem secure and she's too small for the cross carry thing they recommend. I was hoping to be able to breastfeed with her in it, but I can't figure out how to make that happen. I've been doing more reading and now it seems like the ring sling way to go for when she's a newborn. Does this seem like a good idea?
However, I'm overwhelmed by ring sling options! Padded unpadded, stretchy, non strechy! Gah! (I think I want non stretchy because I've already got a stretchy wrap. With a tail.) I am on the crazy newborn schedule and so I can't do a ton of research at the moment. I'm heading for my lactation class tuesday and I know they might have some recs but meanwhile, I thought I'd ask here.
What's your favorite ring sling? And why?
Re: Recommend your ring sling!
I'd second this. Definitely skip the padded ones as they are hard to adjust - and you don't want something stretchy.
You can do a cross carry with a newborn. Here's a video I made; it's with a woven but you can do it with the sleepy wrap too if you want to give it a go: https://www.becomingmamas.com/new-video-newborn-wrapping/
