Early Intervention Services?

Does the military offer any kind of Early Intervention Services like the ones the State offers?  Do you just use the state benefits?

Re: Early Intervention Services?

  • Yes.  You just need a referral from your child's PCM.

  • You need a referral from your PCM and they will then probably do a hearing test first, just to cover all basis. Then they will set you up with the local services. When we were stationed in the Northern VA area, we had to go to Walter Reed for the hearing test first then they referred us to Fairfax County, VA for early intervention services.

  • I use EI services through the state and never needed a referral.  I self-referred and DS1 and DS2 met the requirements.

  • it all depends on what base you are on. if you are on a base with DOD schools then your EI services will be offered on post. if not, then you will go off post. go to your PCM first.
  • First time our Dr just told us to call them for the eval though the state. DS did not qualify but his PCM just put in referrals for the services he needed. Second time I self refereed I just the EI for the state they did a phone interview had us come in to have an in person eval and he got in.
