Boy name: Finley or Porter?

Which name do you like better? We both like names that not common, but my dh is a lot pickier than I am. I am surprised we even have have a couple of names to decide from.

We've narrowed our list to these two names we like, but I think it will be tough to decide. My DH wants his name as our little boy's middle name, so that will be Jason.

Porter Jason

Not a fan of Porter

Really like Finn for a boy, but Finley is fast becoming a girl's name. Do you like just Finn or Finnigan?

I think Finley is a girls name. And one I rather like for a girl. I love Finn for a boy and I did before Glee.

I actually really like Porter Finley...but you didn't ask that. I don't think either flows very well with Jason as a middle name. IMO they both sound better as Jason Finley and Jason Porter.

I like them both though.

I know neither flow that well with Jason, but that's the middle name because that's tradition in DH's family, so I agreed.

As for Finley, I didn't realize it was also becoming a girls name. I was seeing it on boy lists. I like Fin for short.

I don't like either. However, Finley sounds very feminine to me, so I will have to go with Porter.

Yes, Finley is definitely going to the girls. My sister is going to name my niece Finley. Porter sounds much more masculine.

Just like all other PP have said, I think Finley is a girls name. I do LOVE Finn for a boy, or Finnegan. I personally like Porter, it is my BILs mn and I have always thought it was cool.

I really like the name Porter & the name Jason im just not too sure about them together. Im not a big fan of Finley (there is a town next to mine with that name). maybe thats the reason behind it.

I don't like either, but I would go with Finley over Porter even though Finley seems kind of girly.

You do know that a porter is someone who carries baggage right? Why would you want to name your child after an occupation?

I LOVE porter. named my little boy Porter. I love it because it is my grandmothers last name. I wanted to honor her. It also means gatekeeper. It is very different. I havent met another person named Porter. So for me it is a family name. For my husband and I it was either Porter or Rohan. So Porter it was. all the other cool names are just occupations as well. People like Hunter, Parker, Carter: these all are people who hunt, carry baggage etc. Name your kid what you like.

i *LOVE* porter jason!!! even though i think finn is *adorable*, i have a special reason for loving porter jason. when my 1st love jason & i reconnected after 20 years by phone, we talked about how we both had a taste for fine beers & wine, especially porter beer & port wine. well, the next morning for fun i went on a baby name generator, entered the last name "reed" & the sex as a boy. guess what it came up with? porter!!!!!
