Last Ultra Sound??

I know I will have one more ultra sound....but does anyone know generally what week that takes place?? I had the first one, determining I was pregnant, and how far along, then the second to tell me its a baby girl!! Just wondering when that last one comes, should be soon since theres not a whole lot of time left!! And are they able to estimate an approximate weight/size to be expected during birth?

My OB says I won't get one, and they only do a third in the case of high risk pregnancies. I'm a little bummed about it.. but I know when LO arrives I won't care anymore.

Not everyone gets another u/s after 20 weeks. My OB only orders another u/s if you need a growth u/s if your measuring ahead or behind. I had a growth u/s at almost 37 weeks.

I've had so many u/s, but I'm "high risk" due to my age (35) and there were a few concerns with the baby, all of which turned out to be no problem at all. If you get one, yes, they can estimate size and weight - our LO was about 4lbs6oz almost a week ago! I think it's cool to hear how much they weigh, etc. just so you have some kind of an idea of what that's like!

I don't think most OB's order an u/s after the standard 20-week u/s unless they have a medical reason. I had one at 27 weeks, but it was only because they detected a uterine synechia on my 20-week u/s and just wanted to make sure it wasn't interfering with the baby's growth as my pregnancy has progressed.

Lots of women likely only have 1 u/s their entire pregnancy.

Well thank you ladies! I guess I was just under the impression there was automatically one more to determine size towards the end of pregnancy!! They are so fun to watch anyway! I also wonder then, how do they know when the baby has flipped?? It his something you can see, from a change in the shape of you body? Or perhaps something you can feel? I havent felt any unbearable kicks to the ribs, as I've heard other people complain of. Although I have kind of lost my ribs in the growth of this belly!!!

my last scan was at 32 weeks and 5 days but this is only because they are worried about the possitioning of a cyst near my cervix otherwise my mw would not have sent me for any more after the 20 week

I had one at 36 weeks, but it wasn't originally planned. It was only done b/c I had a car accident during week 34, and I was measuring small, so they were concerned the baby wasn't growing. They did estimate size. Ended up that the baby was BIGGER than expected at that point, but she had already dropped really low, which is why I was measuring smaller than expected.

My doctor was able to feel the baby's head during the 37 week exam, so even w/o the u/s they would have known she was upside down. I also get the kicks in the ribs, and when they listen for the heartbeat, it's always found in the low abdomen area. Those all seem to be good signs she has flipped without an u/s.

I haven't had one since 25 weeks and there has been no mention of getting another one.

At my 36 week appointment my Doctor could feel his head during my internal.

Since my baby is in a breech position, I get another one at 36 weeks. She said she might do one for growth at 34 weeks too...which is weird bc the baby is measuring just right.

I wasn't supposed to have any more after my 20 week one. I've had one every four weeks since 24 weeks though because of some complications with lo's kidney

Like some others have said, I think my OB doesn't usually do more after the 20-week. But I'll be having my 4th ultrasound tomorrow. The first was to confirm the pregnancy (@ 9 wks), the second was the 20-week. They saw an enlargement of LO's kidneys on that one so we had a follow-up u/s 4 weeks later (everything was fine). Now my OB wants to do a growth check on LO because I haven't gained much weight. He says there's no cause for concern, I'm assuming because my bump is growing just fine, but he just wants to make sure.

I am almost 33 weeks along, and my last u/s was at 20 weeks. My doc won't order another one unless he suspects something is wrong. Thankfully, he has no concerns right now - which means the next time I'll probably see LO is when he's born!
