We've got a decent enough stash of bumgenius 3.0s and a few random brands, like Rumparooz and Softbums and Fuzzibunz, about 28 diapers. I was washing every day to keep the smell down and because I hate poopy diapers sitting-switching to whole milk has been causing loose poopy diapers.
We have enough Kissaluv 0s from Henry for baby 2.0, but I'm happy to use the new baby as an reason to buy more cloth for when he or she is big enough to stop using the Kissaluv 0s. This is assuming I can bleach the issues out of our current diapers (we used the recalled Rockin' Green and have dealt with rashes and then yeast since, haven't currently found a solution, so going to try bleach and see if that will work). We'll probably go the one-size route so that we can use them for either Henry or the second baby, but I'm not sure how many more to get. Henry will be three months shy of 2 when this baby is born, and so I'm guessing we'll need at least 6-12 more since the wee one will go through them faster than Henry.
Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
Re: So, how many cloth diapers for TWO kids?
I have two in dipes! We use gdiapers mostly, though. I have a couple of Bum Genius 4's, but they seem to leak more often than not. Anyway, we have 18 gdiapers covers and about 30 cloth inserts. The inserts get me through two days. The covers get me through at least a week.
I think 6 - 12 extra dipes would be plenty....Happy shopping!!!
I am expecting #2 any day now and I have a crap load of diapers. Probably more than I need, but here's the stash broken down by age (I've marked "NEW" all the diapers that I have bought in anticipation of the new baby):

So basically I have separate nb and small stashes for #2 (most of which is carried over from #1's stash), and then the OS/med/large stash (currently about 49 diapers including the OS fitteds which we use mostly at night) will be shared once #2 grows into it. I am thinking I'm going to have to wash every day in order to fit all the diapers in one load, so I don't need that many and will probably sell them off once I figure out my actual needs.

I have 33 one size diapers and about 20 NB/Smalls. SO far this is working just fine for us with 2 in cloth. I have the same size pail as i did with one and i wash when the pail is full about every other day sometimes 2 days. and have plenty of diapers for each of them. We will see when DS gets in to the one size but i think it should work since i'm washing so often.
Using the OS with 2 is great. I made an impromptu trip to the park with my two recently and DD had an unexpected poopy diaper and I didn't have and of "her" OS dipes. I was able to adjust one of the OS diapers i was using for DS and us it. Thats not possible with disposable diapers.
