Ok, this maybe a very stupid question but I am a first time mom and never babysat for infants.
Am I supposed to be putting diaper cream on LO at every diaper change? Lo has a diaper rash that keeps returning, I have prescription cream for her now from the pedi but every time it clears up and I stop using the prescription cream it comes right back.
What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions? Recommendations?
Re: recurring diaper rash
My LO was getting really bad diaper rash for awhile too. Our pedi recommended using Aquaphor as our diaper cream. I put this on at every diaper change just to protect him. Also, I was using the Bourdoux's butt paste and I found that EVERY time I used that his rash came back.
Make sure you are letting them air out and completely dry every diaper change. We also do naked tummy time often to let him air everything out completely.
Now that we've been doing these things we haven't had even a hit of diaper rash!
Also, we've used different brands of diapers (pampers, huggies, luvs, costco) and that never seemed to make a difference.
We've been using the Babies R Us brand of diapers. I will switch her tomorrow and see if that helps. I never thought that could be the source!
But you do recommend using a cream or ointment at every change?
How long do you do naked tummy time for? My LO seems to have a knack for making things very messy anytime she is naked for more than a min or two but if it will help we will try it!
Aquaphor is great stuff. When when we have to use s'posies on DD, we put it on her at every change just to protect her skin for when she does poop. Prevention seems to be key for her.
But, I'd also try switching diaper brands since it seems to be the only variable you haven't addressed yet.
also - for this, I'll just put a diaper under her on the changing table and just hang out with her for a few. Prolly about 5-10min. It's about all she can stand being on her tummy anyway.
