Twins in a co-sleeper?

Just wondering who has done this or what you ladies think of it! TIA!

Re: Twins in a co-sleeper?

  • Ours slept next to each other in the co sleeper for at least the first month and a half.  Worked well for us! once they started moving a little bit we put them in their room in their own cribs.  I think more than 1 cosleeper would be a waste, because they make so much noise, you will not want them to sleep in your room forever.

  • Ditto exactly. At first, when they were sleepy newborns, it was great. Once they woke up a bit and started squacking all night long, we needed to move them into their own room.

I thought about getting two mini co-sleepers, and actually registered for them. In the end I decided I wanted the longevity of one co-sleeper; the original size functions just like a PnP, so we could use it now like a play yard if we wanted to, and eventually we'll have the two we need for travel, etc. The minis don't have that kind of longevity.

What two minis does offer is peace of mind for those who aren't comfortable co-sleeping their newborns in a shared sleeping arrangement. After speaking with my pediatrician about the benefits and risks, and doing all sorts of other reading, we decided we were comfortable with it. Some people aren't, though.

  • My twins are together in a co-sleeper, they are almost 8 weeks.  They do not seem to wake each other.  M always wakes first and I have to wake A when M is done with his bottle.  I am going to move them into the cribs soon, but I am procrastinating because I am dreading P waking up to their cries.

  • We started out that way, but only used it the first 10 days or so. Our boys were just SO noisy at night, we really couldn't sleep in the same room with them, so we moved them to the nursery pretty early on and DH and I started sleeping in shifts.

  • we had two of the mini arms reach bedside cosleepers- they slept alone from day 1 .... we were not willing to have the added SIDS risk of them colseeping - and we use angelcare monitors which serve no purpose if 2 babies sleep together. our boys were STTN at 8 weeks- so they did great alone - we saw no need to have them sleep together at night - we did let them sometimes for naps- but never at night.
