Screaming with bowel movements?

Does anyone's LO do this?

Avery has done it from the time she was 3-4 weeks. It's awful, blood-curdling screaming like someone is killing her. We bicycle her legs, push her knees into her tummy, rub her tummy, but her on her stomach across our legs, and nothing helps her. Once she goes, she is fine.

I had been breastfeeding and eliminated so much from my diet - didn't help. So her doc had us try sensitive formula. After 2 weeks, it didn't help. So now he has us having soy for a week. It's only day 2, but I don't see an improvement yet. I'm still pumping to keep up my supply because I'm hoping to be able to go back to it (I have a feeling I won't though, and that makes me want to cry).

Has anyone gone through this and found a cure for your LO?

Re: Screaming with bowel movements?

  • LO does this every now and then. I brought it up at his last well baby visit, and the Dr. said to add 1 teaspoon of Kayro syrup to a bottle, and it should help. If babies have 1 painful bowel movement they can associate every bowel movement with pain, and there for scream.

  • Her doc had us add prune juice to her bottles and that didn't help.

Probiotics - in what form? I'm not familiar with this for babies, except for the fact that her cereal has probiotics (she gets cereal in her last bottle before bed for her reflux).

you can get drops or powder. we use the udo's choice powder, and just dissolve a tsp in one of dd's bottles. the drops are prob a little easier but they are more expensive.
