I've spent about $350 - which was kind of my budget. That doesn't include shoes - which I'm going to need now that I can't wear sandals every day. I'm also not counting bras since I didn't have a choice but to get those.
I was lucky and my cousin who had a baby last Dec. is almost my same size so I got some stuff from her. I also got some nicer, work casual, clothes for my birthday and I've found some great sales.
Re: s/o expensive - How much have you spent on maternity clothes?
I've spent a sh1tload, I'm afraid.
I never turn down hand-me-downs, but I feel like this is a time when I already feel self conscious about how I look so I want to wear things that make me happy. Soo, I save where I can (jeans & pants from friends etc) but I've splurged on a few nice sweaters that aren't maternity, just long and a few sizes bigger than I usually wear. They are my mom's size so I will just give them to my mom when I'm done with them or pack them up and hope I'm pg in the winter next time too. Also I bought a ton of sundresses for summer that I could wear pregnant or not.
I haven't spent that much either...maybe $150-175. My friend had a baby in March and gave me a bunch of shirts...before getting knocked up I was all about layering and I think this has saved me!! I haven't had to buy bras...yet. As for shoes I'm all for sandals until it snows...then I'm all about my uggs!
I'd be screwed if I worked in an office though!
Too much!
Although, a lot of the stuff I can wear post partum and even beyond. I did splurge on some boots that I probably wouldn't have bought had I not been pregnant.
Up until last night, I could have said about $100 for a few pairs of pants and t-shirts. My sister gave me a lot of her clothes and though she's not exactly my size I managed with most of her tops for work paired with my pre-pg pants or the pants I bought. But now that it's colder, I realized I needed some wintery items so I just spent about another $150 last night.
I don't have a lot of friends who've had kids that are my size, so finding jeans that fit was REALLY important to me, and I bought 2 pair last night. I think shoes will be up next, though I'm trying to squeeze my feet into my pre-pg shoes for as long as I can, and then I'll just hit up Payless.
probably about 150ish- I'm trying to buy most everything on sale. And I keep talking myself out of new shirts and stuff because it's so close to the end now...
I'm about to cave and buy maternity underwear, though. My regular panties are just not cutting it. At all.
I hope I don't have to wear in a few months :O) I did get some hand me downs that I have been wearing like crazy! The only things I have bought have been 2 skirts, one dress and one pair of black pants!? I don't really feel cute...ever....but don't really feel cute in any maternity clothes I try on either! :O)
OMW! I've bought jeans and dresses that are more than your wardrobe. I'm feeling pretty dumb now! I bought a few pairs of designer jeans, loads of basic T's and sweaters, classic dresses, 5 pairs of leggings, a couple pairs of shorts, capris, tank tops... Basically built up a wardrobe. I spent about $1000. BUT this is our first and we're planning on at least 2 more, so I won't spend much for my next pregnancies. Besides I LOVE LOVE LOVE clothes and fashion, so I couldn't just put on anything. I want to look like a cute pregnant girl!
ETA: Between summer and fall I probably would have spent this much in clothes anyway.
i havent bought any real maternity clothes and im going to see how far along i can go without doing so! i maybe spent less than $50 on 4 or 5 pairs of cheap yoga pants that have the stretchy waistbands but thats pretty much it. the bras i had to buy but i only spent about $30 on 3 of them. ive been wearing all my prepregnant tops and im busting out of them but it seems to work for now. i didnt get any hand me downs or anything like that.
with winter coming up, i may have to buy a couple sweaters and i may splurge on a pair of uggs (or fake uggs) but i guess we'll see!
I haven't spent any money except maybe buying a couple dresses in the summer, but they weren't maternity dresses.
I was given two pairs of maternity jeans and a maternity sweater by a friend and those have been very helpful. Other than that, my skinny jeans still work because they're stretchy and I just keep the fly open and I have a tube top that I use as a belly band. Most of my t shirts are long so they still fit...I've been pretty lucky! When I'm home I just wear pjs so I don't go through my limited clothing options too fast
As far as actual "maternity" items, I've only bought two things: a tank top from Old Navy ($15 or so) and the Be Band from Target (another $15, I think).
I have, however, splurged on a handful of belly-friendly non-maternity clothes. I think I've spent maybe $350 on non-mat clothes since my BFP, but I don't feel too bad about that because I'll be able to wear them postpartum.
Very minimal here too. I work from home, so I am able to wear yoga pants all day and my cousins both gave me their hand me downs.
Anyone else find that with hand me downs a lot of them or ripped, stained or have holes? Man, these girls do NOT take care of their clothes! I have found that lots I am not able to wear because they are in such bad shape.
I have probably spent between 300-400 including bras and maternity underwear (love them). I got a little too excited a little too early and bought some items that I never used for summer (too big for me then), so that was kind of a waste. Also, this is my first, and none of my close friends or family have kids yet to loan me any clothes. Several of my close friends are pregnant now, so hopefully by the second baby around we will have a really great wardrobe built up!

I've probably spent about $200-250. I work in an office and had to spring for some professional work clothes. But other than the slacks that I bought new, I've gotten most of my tops used on eBay at really good prices or on the clearance rack. I'll probably list my clothes on eBay once all is said and done in order to recoup some of the cost.
