Ugh, this pissed me off last night! We told some of our friends (DH softball buddy & his wife) that we were expecting. They were very happy for us and then the wife says: "Well, I guess I won't be asking you if you guys want to go out to dinner with us tomorrow night like I planned to."
Me: looking confused "Why is that?"
Wife: "Because we were going out for sushi and you can't eat it since you are pregnant."
Me: "Umm...yes I can.
She then proceeded to argue with me that I can't eat raw fish. I personally do not like the raw stuff and the place were we go also has hibachi and tempura platters.
I love how she thinks she gets to decide what I can and can't eat while PG. I can't wait for the next 9 months with her. I am sure she is going to make some comment about me being in a bar/restaurant after the men's softball game one week and how I shouldn't do that either.

I know how you feel. The one coworker I told gave me a lecture this morning regarding packing snacks to eat during the day. She also told me I had to eat a full breakfast and a midmorning snack and a small lunch and on and on or I would feel horrible. She's also the one who gives me a dirty look when she sees me having my morning coffee. (i've cut it down to a 1/2 cup instead of 4) I told her I am not her and that my pregnancy is not the same as hers and she needs to lay off.
She was like...yeah whatever....you'll see...UGHHH! Feel your pain.

I am sure DH and I will go there for dinner one night but not with her. I don't need her commentary over everything I eat.
Sashimi, yes...but there are at least a few vegetarian-type sushi rolls, and the ones that use artificial crabmeat it's basically just precooked whitefish that's been shaped and colored to look like crab.
Regardless, it's OP's job to worry about what she is and isn't eating, not the rest of the world's, and from the stories I've heard on these boards, too many people seem to forget that.
My OB told me sushi was perfectly fine - she even said she ate it twice a week while she was pregnant herself. You just have to make sure you're eating it from a place you trust and watch your mercury intake.
